A British woman has been shot after she and her family mistakenly drove into a Brazilian favela.
The family had been heading the coastal resort of Angra dos Reis, 90 miles from Rio de Janeiro, but got lost.
They were reportedly looking for somewhere to buy water when they ended up in Agua Santa community, an area known to have drug traffickers.

Poor woman. The only safe way into a favela is with an approved guide who will be a resident of that favela. He/she will be well aware of the no go areas. It sounds horrific but the vast majority of dwellers are just doing the best they can and wouldn't harm anyone.
