Thinking about booking this when we go back in March.
Has anyone been on it and is it recommended ?
Also whats the food like, whilst the wife can deal with the traditional indian food, i have a problem with it (anything spicy or curry) do they also provide either chinese food or western dishes.
Also how safe is it, ie the rafting and the accomodation etc is it well run. Seen how well run the water sports are in candolim (remembers the honeymooners landing on top of a beach shack (spottys) whilst doing the paragliding).

Peter
Hi mrstella. The food is mainly Indian but there is normally salad and chips available as well. Regarding the safety it is spot on, the camp is run by the Karnatakan government but the rafting is run by a guy called John from Hull. John is great fun but when it comes to safety he is very strict. Accommodation is in a tent like you haven't seen before; they are on concrete bases with twin beds on-suite bathroom. Each tent has a locker in it that locks with a padlock but this is to keep thieving monkeys from robbing you. As well as the write up on
sounds great sent daytrippers an email to book it, was a bit dissapointed when reading the review on the other site which says you dont get to see many of the wildlife etc but i suppose it all depends on when you go and a bit of luck thrown in for good meassure.
hi mrstella. That's the problem with wild life, it's wild and doesn't come when you want it to I've been lucky when i last went I saw a leopard and 3 bears and the time before a panther
we took a trip with http://www.daytrippergoa.com for a one night stay in a camp, in a fancy tent! not like a english camping tent, it was one wiht a bed and bathroom! even carpet! In the trip we did a safari in the morning and we went white water rafting! that was the highlight!
We had fully trained english/australian guides who split us into groups and took us out rafting! it was great fun, sailing down the river with the occassional rapid! it was to rough but it was fun!!! saw lots of wildlife to and it was so peaceful!
probably other trips with other companies to the same place but did it with Eddie for daytripper and it was a great fun trip! ideal if you have got teenages!
Also you dont need to be able to swim, as my boyfriend cant, and we managed fine! you have ,life jackets and helmets on, so you are fully protected, adn if you fall out of the boat , you get dragged back in very quickly!
well just thought i would let you know if you are thinkning of what trips you can do whilst in goa!
Thanks for the information. I've already earmarked a couple of trips for our next visit during February.
thats fine! what trips are you looking at doing?
Quite fancy the Dandeli trip and also Cochin/Kerala. Always visit Palolem so will do that again independently.
We're there for a month so will manage to do everything we want.
Again, thanks for the information.
One of the best trips we have done is up to Dandelli WhenI was in Goa in Oct. I hears that the road up the western ghats had been badly damaged in the recent monsoon. We are back again next month and was hoping to do the trip again with some friends who are on their first visit Anybody any idea what the position is now re. the road ?
sorry no idea, but you are right this is a great trip! did you do the white water rafting! I loved it!!!!! my boyfriend also did it and he cant swim!!!
thanks
If I have the right place then it is along way from places like Candolim/ Calangute etc.. I think it is actually in Karnataka rather than Goa.
Fritz you are right the tigers are a 5 hour drive away in Karnataka
If it's 5 hours drive don't think i'll bother, staying in Calagute so will be quite a trek
you got ot go! its a great trip! you get ot do a safari and go white water rafting if you want!!!!its reqlly worth it and you stay in a tent to!!
Whats it like, do you get to see much in the way of wildlife etc
Whats the accomodation and food like ???
Cheers
hi mate if you are looking for wild life try baga theres loads ov birds and stuff up that way...reg hotels in goa they are most 2star hotels and you might get the odd 3star hotel the 2stars are nice and clean. becarefull of the guest houses as they can be a bit crap and i mean crap so if you do a 2star hotel you will be ok. for wild life trips see ya rep when you get there as they do loads of trips hope this helps you out xx
Thanks for that mate,
But its purely details of the dandelli trip i was after ie whats the tents like, whats the food like etc.
btw dont book anything with the rep as its way overpriced and will only use the same people that you book direct with anyway.
I use Johns boat tours (candolim road) and i hear daytrippers are ok as well.
But if anyone has done the dandelli trip, yes i know you are out there please dont be scared to post i wont bite you
Regards
Peter
