Back in July last year I booked an all inclusive 11 night holiday to the Dominican Republic with Thomascook.com departing 24th June this year.
The resort I'm stopping at has 7 five star hotels. Some are classed as Luxury while some are classed as Grand. The Luxury ones have access to most of the resorts restaurants and bars as well as other extras like room service. The Grand ones have fewer options.
At the time of booking our hotel was a Luxury one. After booking Thomas Cook informed us the hotel had been rebranded a Grand hotel and Thomas Cook have downgraded it to a 4.5 star as premium drinks are now not included. After querying this they said as the hotel itself still classes itself as a 5 star and our services remain the same our holiday isn't affected.
After a bit of research I've discovered that as our hotel is now Grand and not Luxury we have fewer restaurant/bar options and fewer hotel services. I received another email yesterday from Thomas Cook stating that 2 restaurants will be closed during our stay for renovations meaning we now how even fewer dining options.
After paying in excess of £3000 for this holiday I feel conned as I booked a Luxury hotel at the time and it changed to a Grand one afterwards butThomas Cook don't seem to think this should be reflected in the price I paid.
I have sent a further email detailing my concerns and am awaiting a response.
Do you think I'm right?
