I have had 2, both quite a few years ago. Protarus- now there was nothing wrong with the actual hotel, but there was a building site next door. Very noisy. The hotel was at the edge of the beach, where there was a 2 day heavy rock bonanza. I am actually a fan of heavy rock, but the groups were dire. It was a heatwave at the time and too hot by 8am. The pool was like a hot bath! Too top it all - karaoke. Every blooming bar had it. I swear that at least 5 times every night we heard a 10 year wailing out My Heart Will Go on- or their version of it anyway. A few folks went into Ayia Napa in the evenings for more peace
The other holiday was a very last minute one to Tenerife one October- Playa de las Americas. The hotel was a bit strange. There were warning signs all over the place- If you make a noise you will be thrown out. If you play music in your room or by the pool, you will be thrown out. Do not hang flags over the balconys. These are the ones I can remember. We had arrived at night so was dreading what we were coming in to. But next morning, we found the hotel was almost empty- they must have all been thrown out!
We were only there a week. Every morning we would look out the balcony and see the black clouds coming over. We spent days just walking up and down the promenade to Los Cristianos and back( stopping for a few drinks of course) To be fair, we did have some good nights out, but that might have been more to do with how much we had drunk during the day!
On the way back on the coach( at night) we had a group of 4 girls behind us crying as they had been waved off by the hotel waiters, a group of lads determined that they were going to have a good night anyway, and finally a couple who decided during the coach journey that they were getting divorced.
Happy days! Actually we still made the most of both holidays. Lives too short!
