You won't be able to get duty frees on a day trip - travel anywhere in the EU is no longer duty free. However as these are not duty free goods there is no limit to the amount you bring back as long as they're for personal consumption. As most places pay alot less tax than here in the UK, prices are much lower so you'll still save a packet!
thanks for that, i just realised i put duty free, i meant tax free, was thinking of a day trip to amsterdam to stock up for myself does anyone know how much they are in amsterdam and can you just get them from the airport and then fly home?
Cigarettes in Holland are currently around the 39/40 euro mark for 200. That's about £28/£29. I can't see any reason why you couldn't fly to Schipol, buy your duty paid cigarettes there and fly back again... but it would be such a shame to miss out on a few hours in Amsterdam, it's only 15/20 minutes away on the train.
When I went to Amsterdam I found that it worked out cheaper to use Sterling.
Or am i being thick
As it is possible to fly to Amsterdam for less than £50 so long as you buy more than 5 or 6 boxes then the cost will be absorbed. Assumedly he hopes to buy a large quantity
If you got to Amsterdam the shop near the floating flower market take sterling and Mum said it worked out at 26.00 a pack 200 £29 in Airport.
