I would drop Eddie at daytripper an email to see if changes have been made as I know he wouldn't stand for service like what maggie om has discribed. If he ever gets a genuine complaint he is normaly the first one to kick someones back side

I don't know where you got them times for the Mumbai trip from but it's not the trip I did!! We got picked up after 6 15 to 6 30pm and that was the day trippers!!! and we got to Mumbai early in the morning!!
Thank you Mr Stella. When I went to school 3 times 99 was nearly 300!! So that is how much our trip did cost !!!! £300 !! less 3p!!
sorry stella XXX
hehe what for, read the post as a thankyou for pointing out that there was 3 ppl hence the £300.
and as for the 3p !! leave me alone iv had a hard day!!!!!!!! thats my excuse he-he (never was any good at maths!!)
We're back! Had the perfect holiday - more about that later. Saw this post when I was skimming over what we've missed and had to respond.
We went with Daytrippers on their Dandeli Trip. We now know we would have been better going elsewhere. The trip was a real eye-opener and we had some amazing experiences but..... the drive to Dandeli is 5 and a half hours, twelve people paying£53/63 per head in a non air conditioned mini bus going over the Western Ghats.
I am fully aware this is India and would expect smells and dust but if Eddie charges English prices he should plough back some money into providing comfortable transport for long journeys at least. The Ghats are famous for the manganese/iron ore lorries driving at break neck speeds up and down sheer roads wth hair pin bends ( an experience I would never have missed - believe me the M25 is a doddle compared to that!!) However - these lorries carry the red ore and so the dust is unbeliveable and in such a confined space with twelve people and only one small bottle of water it was not really acceptable. One stop was arranged at a cafe near the Dhudsager Waterfalls - I don't believe that anyone from Daytrippers management team has recently checked this out - the place was filthy, the waiters rude and incompetent and the toliets were diabolical( the beach shacks had much better ones!)
The trip as a whole was a memorable experience but feel that Eddie should check out what is happening as there are trips locally to bathe with elephants and stay in tents that are not so far away, not so uncomfortable and not as expensive.
I am glad I went but in all honesty would not recomend it to anyone.
just out of intrest do you know the name of the guide from daytrippers that went with you??? on this trip
Did Mumbai on DIY basis. Very easy to organise yourself on the train. But word of warning dont use the Apollo Hotel. Very dirty, open water bottles in the fridge. The Colaba area near the gateway to India is a popular place to base yourself.
I used Footprints in Candolim (Shelter Guest House, opposite the Mango Grove) to go on the Eye of the Tiger trip. They were very well organised and professional from start to finish and by the sound of the Dandeli trip mentioned earlier excellent value for money. Speak to Angeline at the office for full details of their tours.
AMZ what did the trip comprise of ??
Return train travel to Udipi in Karnataka (5 hours) with packed lunch both ways
2 Nights bed, breakfast and evening meal in a good quality hotel
Full day tour taking in an elephant sanctuary (washing, feeding etc), a safari park and a medieval Krishna temple with lunch and two chai stops
All fully escorted with two excellent guides.
Costs £60
He was with us on the dread minibus to Dandeli but then disappeared without trace until the return trip.
Have looked at daytrippers website and it looked brill. But not so sure now after reading these reviews.Sounds like it might be better to do trips on our own in a taxi. Only 4 more sleeps then its off to romantic Goa for me and hubby. Just hope we dont get any more snow. Dont want flight to be delayed. Not this end anyway.
thats the guide!! that we hadwe never saw him apart from the nite b4 we come home, and i bet the coach driver was a biggish guy with thick black hair!! that drove like a mad man!!!!
Hi Sweepy2, I am the same as you. I want to do the taj mahal trip with Daytrippers, but amnot sure after reading all the reviews. When are you off, we are leaving on Sat 26th Feb from gatwick at 4.30pm
