Hi,
Just back from yet another lovely holiday in Goa, the only thing I have to look forward to at moment is a great pile of ironing While there we checked out several hotels for prices for Dec, I am amazed how the prices treble in some hotels for the christmas week, it would appear that its better to get a package deal, the cheapest flight I can find for 3 weeks is £549 which doesnt leave a great deal for rupees left for accommodation as we can get a deal for approx £750. The room rates increase in some hotels from 21st Dec to 1st Jan going from 1000 per night to as much as 6000 per night
We called into the Senhor Angelo while there but unfortunately didnt check the rooms out as hotel was full can anyone help with hotel/room lay out, do they have seperate sitting area or just a bedroom.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
xxx
Anyone been here or heard of it?
Senhor Angelo is a small hotel, in a great location. I've had a few of my family stay there when they come over to visit. It's rooms are very basic but very clean and the staff are lovely. The pool area is quiet and tranquil and hardly anyone uses it so you get to have it to yourself every day (except when the orphans come down for a couple of hrs on sunday afternoons).
It's situated off the baga road on the beach road which is next to Aquila art gallery and Calangute Mahal. Only 10mis stroll thru the sand dunes from the hotel to the beach, nearest shack is Horizon Shack (or it was 2 yrs ago).
Hope this is helpful, Goldenflipflop
nearest shack is Horizon Shack
GFF, the Horizon certainly is still the nearest to the Senhor Angelo hotel. Reason I'm so certain, well this is the shack that I go to every year
Anyway back to the Senhor Angelo. I really like the look of this hotel its a nice location with plenty going on around you within walking distance. Other hotels along that road are the German Hotel, Johnnys Hotel and the Pareers Blossom, formerly the Victorian Heritage I think. The only thing that put me off the SH was that when I called there, there were no steps to get out of the pool. I'm sure this must have been a temporary thing but if I'd have been stopping there I wouldn't have been able to use the pool coz once in I wouldn't have been able to haul myself out

It is a lovely hotel, as is Carry's Hotel (next to Victorian Heritage), bit pricey and not tied into any charters but immaculately kept and nice and small.
GFF
We are booked to stay in this hotel at christmas and was wondering if anyone else has stayed here or knows any information i.e. where it is exactly?
We stayed here 3 years ago. It is basic but good hotel. We found people tend to go back there. We have been going to Goa for 8 years but usually stay at nearby Carys Hotel. We stayed at Senhor Angelos that particular year because we couldn't get cheap flights and decided a package was going to work out cheaper.
it is in a very good spot. Very close to the beach. Nearest beach shack is Queen Beach which serves very good food and also has its own beautician on site. She is very good and we can recommend her. We pay her lots of visits for manicures, pedicures, facials etc. Tell her Brenda and Elizabeth, the sisters from Carys sent you. Her name is Marta.
Restaurants are very close by, lots to choose from.
We have a very good taxi driver every year, he is known as Jack although his proper name is Vishal. He will take you everywhere and will wait all night for you. If you ask at Sudans Bar, on the road up to the main road from your hotel, they will send him to your hotel for you.
if you need any more info let me know.
Can't fault the place. It's a small basic hotel, but was clean with great staff. Never felt under any pressure to tip.
Food was good, but a little bit more expensive than most of the restaurants.
The kingfisher was cold!!
It is in Calangute, towards the Baga end. Its a good distance off the main road so it's quite. only about a five minute walk from the beach and about 10 mins from centre of Calangute.
Don't book trips off the reps do it yourself. There are always a couple of cab drivers outside the hotel. We had a full day out with one to Old Goa and a spice farm and he only charged about £13. Needless to say he got a large(in his eyes)tip. Four of us took another cab to see dolphins, the driver sorted the boat out for us and we were within a few feet of them. £5 a head. Top value.
Good restaurant within walking distance, O'Pescador. Tandoori kingfish was excellent. Expensive for Goan standards, about £6 a head, but several cocktails were downed.
Only minor problem is that the foliage around the bar and pool seems to be where the mosquitos sleep, so prepare for a few bits at dusk. The staff do try to smoke them out every day.
All the best and have a good holiday.
If the world wasn't so big and there weren't so many places to go. we would stay there again.
