It's probaly no help to you, but there are a group of whitewashed apartments in Pueblo Andaluz, but these are near La Cala not Nerja.

Perhaps there are 2 Pueblo Andaluz? I know there is another one in Teneriffe.

A relative of mine lived, until recently, near Competa, just a bit higher up than Torrox and we visited frequently. As I recall, Torrox is quite a drive from Nerja and is someway up into the hills, not much there, perhaps a few bars, which locals use, and local shops, not touristy at all. Windy road up and roads very narrow, some villas are a bit out of the way, apartments I would think are more central, in the main part of the 'town'. I wouldn't advise driving up from Nerja at night if you've had a few as its a long drop over the edge!! Apart from Nerja, which is lovely and lots of good eating places but small enough to get round in a day (if that), you will be a way from any other main resort and will definitely need a car if you are going to Torrox although there is a local bus into Malaga which we once used and it took ages and no air conditioning.

You get a lot of Swedish/German/Danish people living in Torrox and upwards as the properties are cheaper than on the coast and the temperatures are not as high as on the coast but you will be ok in August as it will be really hot. Another tip, the shops up there are really Spanish and main supplies will have to be bought from one of the supermarkets in resorts, local stores do not really cater for the British diet apart from a few dairy products. There are a couple of markets on locally, one in Competa on a Saturday morning (early) until about 12noon where there are fresh fruit stalls and some nice bits you can buy.

Hope this helps. Have a good holiday.

Babs the Torrox you mentioned is Torrox Village which is in the hills - there is also Torrox Costa not far from Nerja . Torrox Costa is on the coast and is mainly holiday complexes, bars and restaurants. Not alot of night life if I recall. I used to live near there and have since moved further down the coast and have not been there for a while but will find out where the Pueblo Andaluz is in one of my books or on the net.

Have a look at this - it is on the complex you have booked which is on Torrox Costa so you are near the beach :D
I put this on so you would have some idea of where you will be. There is a large supermarket nearby and plenty of restaurants and Nerja is about 10 mins away by car or there is the local bus service which is not too bad.
Nerja is alot quieter than most of the rest of the Costa del Sol but is a very nice holiday town. Don't miss the market on Tuesday.
The Water Park mentioned is in Velez-Malaga (not to be confused with Malaga) which is down the coast towards a place called Torre del Mar.(the opposite way to Nerja). If you want to go there go to the touris office in Torrox and ask when it is open - usually in the afternoons in summer. If you have children there is also a go-kart circuit in Torre del Mar so you could make "a day" of it.
Enjoy your holiday.

I live just along the coast from Torrox Costa.
The market is on a Monday, Nerja market is on a Tuesday.
Torox Costa is in easy reach of Nerja and also of Torre del Mar, which is very Spanish and well worth a visit.
There is a very nice beach and paseo, which is quite vibrant and has a lovely atmosphere in the evenings.
It is a small resort area, very popular with German tourists. There are many restaurants to choose from, some very good ones. Unless you are staying in the Hotel Riu, theres not a lot of nightlife, unless you fancy the 2 topless bars.
The climate at Torrox is reportedly the best on the Costa del Sol, and I can vouch for the accuracy of that!
If you are hoping to take in some sight seeing, you will be in an ideal position as it's a great base.
If I knew what sort of holiday you were looking for, I would be better ale to advise as to whether or not it would suit your needs.
Personally, I prefer it to Nerja (which is nice), but would advise anyone looking at the area to take a look at my apartment which is a little further along the coast.I'm very biased of course!
Please don't hesitate to get in touch if I can help with any more specific information.
