Hi Madmum here, we went to fuengarola zoo with our 2 year old grand daughter, she loved it there is a lot to see and it is well maintained, I'm sure you will all enjoy it when you go
It is really clean and both adults and children should enjoy themselves !!
Some of the animals that are there are Tigers , Monkeys , Crocodiles , a walk through Bird enclosure and lots more .
I would really recommend that you go late afternoon early evening as it gets dark quickly .
Hope this information helps .
Michelle
My wife and I went in December 2003. Everything was fully open and very clean.
Thank you for your replies. I'll add it to the list of places to go along with Gib & the apes and the waterpark. As a lot of you will no it can sometimes be a bit difficult keeping a 2 year old interested for 2 weeks. If anyone as anymore ideas we would be very greatful. Please remember his mom is pregnant with twins so no long walks or mountain cilmbing ha ha. Goodness knows what it will be like next year with 3 under 3. It will either be very brave or very silly. It won't be dull! L.O.L
Also you could take your grandson to Tivoli park in Benalmadena, it's on a steep hill but there are loads of cafes and bars to rest in, if you go on a Sunday when the market it there you get in for 1 euro..
There is also sea life in the Banalmadena Marina, we've been loads of times, there is selwo Marina near Parque Paloma (Benalmadena) but it not meant to be that great.
You also have Selwo safri park (near san pedro) which is excellent, lots of walking though.
Have fun, costachick
Do you have the opening times for Tivoli on Sundays. We have been before , years ago but only at night.
The rest of the year its only the Sunday Market from 11:00 to 13:00
http://www.tivolicostadelsol.com
Just to add, in April to October the sunday market is 11.00 until 14.00/15.00 (does say 13.00 on the site) and the park stays open until I think 20.00..
Thanks for the info. We will be there in late May/June. So we can make a day of it, if it stops raining. Had one or two e-mails from Spain. We knew it was bad over there but didn't no it was so bad. Lets hope it picks up soon. in our case very soon. We go 29th May.
Tigers & Crocs the best.
Also in he new shopping complex is a pet shop that my kids liked to visit.
A bit sad though as they have little puppies in small glass cages. But children do not realise the sadness of there containment. The puppies seem to change regular, so perhaps gone to good homes. But judging by all the stray dogs roaming around....maybe not for long.
Tivoli world opens 4pm till about 12pm during May. Cost me only 5.45 Euros return for 2adults/2children, by train, from Feungirola. Last train about 11pm. get a timetable from station.
Thank you for the info. Not sure about the puppies in cages. our daughter is a bit emotional at the moment being pregnant and all. I can see it ending in tears again. I'm sure her son will love it.
We have a 13th month old baby who perhaps is a little young to enjoy everything but both she and we had a good time!
Fuengirola Zoo is a Zoo without cages, the animals are all kept in enclosures where you can look through glass walls or peer over the walls or through viewing points to see the animals.
Its quite a small Zoo but we liked that, there are around 45 enclosures that house most of the animals that you would want to see, Tigers, Gorillas, Chimps etc, they also have a large window where you can look through into the water of a small crocodile invested lake, its really erie when one swims by.
We spent about 3 hours at Fuengirola Zoo on a Sunday afternoon and I would say that this is about the right sort of time you should allow. This gave us time to walk around twice and see some of the animals that were asleep the first time.
We saw a fantastic animal show at the end, its on at 5pm in the winter and lasts around half an hour. Its mostly trained birds flying around but there are a few surprises so I won't spoil the fun.
In the summer you can see the Zoo in the dark, that's something we are going back to as the Zoo stays open until midnight for July and August.
The entrance fee of €12.30 for Adults and €8.60 for kids is not bad value for money.
You can get the usual fare, burgers, ice creams, pizzas, coffees etc at one of the two cafes in Fuengirola Zoo.
You can read more info on http://www.malaga-airport-guide.com/fuengirola-zoo.html

I would agree a visit to the zoo is a must. My husband and I went at night when it was a bit cooler and we had a drink at the bar on our way round. We would go back.
