Hi All,

The Cook Islands are in the south pacific, 'near' (well, a few thousnad miles away from!) Fiji and New Zealand. The photos look like real Robinson Crusoe land!

We are only stopping off here on the way back from NZ, for three days....but I know that I am going to regret not booking longer!!

Rarotonga is a fantastic place. I have been there several times. The best place to snorkle and stay on the Island is the Titikaveka side. Lovely people - try the mangos!

How would you get to the Cook Islands from the UK? I assume you would need to go via somewhere? cheers

Hi,

Yeah, I think the most 'direct' route would be through London, then LA, then to the Islands.

Yeah, Air New Nealand often serve that kind of area, via LAX as you say.

The Cook Islands have close links both politically and travel-wise with New Zealand and most people go via New Zealand just as Karen is doing.

Hello,

My boyfriend and I are fantasising at the moment about the honeymoon that we hope to have in the not-so-distant future and I wondered if anyone had ever been to the Cook Islands? They would be my first choice of location but I just wanted to ask if anyone had been and find out roughly the cost of a 2 or 3 week holiday there?

I'd be really grateful for any information.

Many thanks

Much cheaper to DIY. Get your flights and either try LP or google search for accommodation.

Thanks Chris,

Yeah I thought that would be the case...I've done a bit of research and the accommodation costs in the cooks don't look too bad. It's just that the total cost of flights and transfers are probably astronomical aren't they? That won't stop me though - if I start saving now, I might be there by 2010!

Thanks again

Hi,

If your going the DIY route then I believe it is much cheaper to book the plane tickets for scheduled flights WAY WAY in advance. I'm talking as much as 8 months.

I recently pulled in a quotation for the Cooks from a UK company and it came out for 14 nights in a nice beachfront bure property on Rarotonga without food £4,500. That includes flight and accom and any transfers from Manchester UK.

Hi Nomad

wow - was that per person or for 2? Seems very expensive but I suppose once you've factored in transfers, accommodation etc, it all adds up. I was banking on about 2500 per person all in, but maybe that's way underestimated. But I definitely agree about the booking in advance - you can get some really good deals if you book ahead.

Thanks so much for your advice - I really hope I can get there somehow!

Hi,

Sorry that costing was for two adults, not per person. I little tip I heard was book it through a U.S or Australian / NZ company they get the better deals as they send more people to the S.Pacific than the UK companies.

Hope you get to go! I'm going Fiji in 2006 :))

Just to say we had our wedding and honeymoon in the Cook Islands June this year.

It was absolutely fantastic, so so beautiful.

If you are staying on Rarotonga then we thoroughly recommend The Crown Beach Resort, much better than the Rarotongan which we very nearly booked.

Aitutaki is absolutely beautiful, a day tip is a must, and if you can spend a night or 2 there all the better.

Just thinking about it makes me want to go back.

They are the friendliest people on the planet, always smiling!

We booked our flights with Ebookers and accommodation diectly with the resort. Flights were about £800 each and resort is about NZ$5000 for a fortnight. Can't remember how much in £'s.

hi Pinklady and welcome to HT. I have tried to find info on your hotel (just to ask you if you could write a review for us!) I am having difficulty finding anything on the internet though.

That is the website. It's in Rarotonga.

Happy to write a reveiw, tell me where etc. Only found this website last night when looking for reviews of Morocco.
