I hate to admit but i live so close to France but hardly ever visit.
I wanted to do a 3 day round trip heading south on my new Harley from St Malo.
I just want to take it easy and stay in Hotels for the two or three nights .
Can anyone recommend a a scenic route i could take! Not in detail of course , but a general guide to towns , villages, that i should take in on my route.
Just going to St Malo on the ferry then heading south along the coast , any tips as it my first time riding abroad , all i know is that they ride on the wrong side of the road! so have to be well aware when pulling out from service stations etc.
I think this is going to be my first holiday with out drinking to much wine!
A shame nobody had any ideas for you. We went to St Malo on a day trip from.......Jersey.....(sorry )...about 14 years ago, and enjoyed it, but I can't remember much about it now, except for the walled city with typical French shops (charcuteries etc.).
I've also been camping with my parents in the Granville/Joulloville areas but that was CENTURIES ago! Also le Val Andre, which we liked, and Quiberon on the south coast of Brittany. Oh, and Mont St Michel of course. But I have no idea how much these places will have changed since the 1970s.
Personally, I can't understand why you'd need to leave the Channel Islands....except for the lure of the open road and a chance to fly with the Harley .
Hope you have a great time
Yes Guernsey is gorgeous at this time of year , but with a 35 mph speed limit and about an hour to ride around the island , i long for a nice open road to cruise for miles .
I have been told i neeed my log book and insurance , will photo copies be ok with local police i wonder .
Bienvenue en France! You'll need the originals of your insurance and your ownership document I'm afraid!
You have so many choices about where to go - firstly eastwards towards Mont St Michel, Bayeux and Caen, secondly westwards towards Dinard, Dinan, and the Finisterre peninsula and finally southwards towards Rennes, and even Futuroscope depending on how much rubber you like burning!
However, please note that French motorways also charge tolls on motorcyclists!
Have a great time!

This trip sounds more exciting than I thought!!!!!!!
better change that . especially as i put i would be stopping where i feel!
I just cruised the coast from St malo down to carnac where i met an old friend , and the only time i came off a bike ! well i left my harley by his camper and borrowed his push bike at 1.30 am to get back to my hotel , opps who put that post there!!!! LOL
im so ashamed that i live so close and have not taken advantage of france, but in my defence i lived for 3 years in Portugal and love to go back to my old town.
However so many people i meet on the ferry back home had places or mobile homes in france , that its changed my outlook .
just have to buy a cheaper house and sell my business LOL
