Not long back from Marrkech, but did not have to get any vaccinations. Wasn't mentioned in any literature that I read. I assume travel agents tell you if you need them??

The Department of Health recommends Hep A and Typhoid for Morocco. The best thing to do is to go and see the nurse/doctor at your local surgery and ask for their advice. We've always taken the view that it's better to be safe than sorry so had all the ones that were recommended when we went to the Gambia last year - including Hep A, Typhoid, Diptheria, tetanus & polio (which were all free) and Yellow Fever (which cost 40 quid). Going to Sri Lanka in 6 weeks so must get in touch with the nurse to see if we need anything else!

Hi Emma!
I totally agree with you. And It's funny the more I think about my week the more I want to return! There's something vey magical about Marrakech where I was based.
It's a great country which offers so much to the slightly more adventurous traveller. :)

You have the advice regarding vaccinations but I would like to point out that Morocco is in a malaria zone. Over 2000 people returned to the UK last year with malaria contracted whilst holidaying in malaria zone countries and having not taken anti-malarial precautions. Lots of people go to Morocco and do not take anything and are OK but for the 64 people who died of the disease having contracted it whilst holidaying in various countries in malarial zones, in the UK last year the story wasn't so good.

All it takes is one bite from the malaria carrying mosquito.

I would advise you to speak to your doctor regarding a siutable preventitive product.
