I stayed in Pineda a couple of years ago, which is the next resort to Calella, but we walked or took the train to Calella as it was busier than Pineda.
It has lots of shops down little side streets, and the train that runs along the coast passes through Calella, so you can go as far as Lloret De Mar, or the other way as far as Barcelona (well worth a visit). We did it in the evening so we could see the fountains (they perform to music and lights)
Very spectacular.
I am not sure about the hotel though, weather should be hot.

Hellooooooooooooo!!

I am booked to go to the Olympic Hotel in Calella on the 20th June for a week.
Has anybody been to this hotel before and what is it like as the reports don't really do it any justice!!!
I have heard good reports about "Papas Bar", could anybody let me know wher abouts this is and if it is very far from my hotel?
Could someone give me a rough guess as to what the weather will be like then?
What are the beaches like there?

Any help would be appreciated!!

Thanks,

Jodie x

How did you find the hotel, just booked it today for myself, missus and kids (14 & 8).

Read up on extremely varying reports about this place.

Read several reports b4 we went but dont understand what some people expect, I have had 16 All Inclusive holidays in the last 4 years and would not disrepect this 1 at all.
Weather was in the 80,s { last week September 05 }
Food was ok always something there and i,m fussy
bar staff were ok all week no complaints at all
never waited more than 5 mins to be served
yes plastic glasses wee for round the pool { optional } but we agree with them fully as sorry to say british couple smashed 2 glasses by the pool and just walked off { now thats ignorant }
hotel was clean and rooms cleaned everyday
3 pools to choose from 1 with a pool bar
cocktails carry a 2 euro surcharge for A/I guests
resort itself was bustling and it was end of season
we used the Amika also decor was superb meals were just the same
Anyone thinking of goin here i would ignore reports and go see for yourself as you wont be dissapointed. We only paid 209 each and its was worth every penny

Was at Hotel Olympic, in Calella at end of August. this was a last minute holiday and I had no idea where I was going except that it was the Costa Brava!
The hotel was good, the food fine and the weather lovely, what more could a person from Scotland want. If you go on this type of holiday go with an open mind and you will rarely be dissappointed.
But if you go to stay in the hotel 24/7 then not only are you sad, but you will be dissappointed.
The beach at Calella is awesome, not only do the waves throw you back, but the sand (gravel) is a brilliant exfoliator and your skin is smooth for weeks after you get home...... :D :P

we first went to hotel olympic sept 2004 ok rooms were basic but cleaned every day our room was on the back facing the pool food was good plenty variety to eat. water polo, archery darts for those who wanted to join in by the pool on a afternoon by the two hotel entertainers one was called dorian, on the evenings theese two lads did a magnificent job with the entertainment for the kids and adults alike with competitions etc with certificates awarded. a good holiday good weather thoroughly enjoyed.western saloon bar next door worth a visit.

We returned again this year this time room was on the front of hotel cleaned every day food good again the only damper on this holiday were a party of germans who were arguing and fighting till the early hours and 2 holes were put in the doors of the rooms security seemed oblivious to what was going on. the entertainment unless you were spanish or geman was nonexistent none of the previous competitions that were on before. disco no one spoke just put one record on after another a very dissapointing .

place is a real dump, the hotel chain H-Top has some nice hotels like the Amaika but the Olimpic in Calella and Casino in Lloret should be avoided at all costs.

Hey i've been to Calella just last year in July in which i stayed at Hotel Olympics sister hotel the Osiris. Which you could also use the Olympics swimming pool etc. The Olympic is a very well run hotel clean and tidy (we were informed about this by fellow guest who stayed here). There swimming pool is very big and not too crowded. The weather when i was there in July was very hot although we had warning that there was going to be a storm it never happend.

Clubs and Pubs you must go to

*Whitehorse- which is a two sec walk from the olympic in which they cater for everyones needs from children to adults and the people that work there are extremely friendly. If you do go here please say a big hello to betty, rob and disco from Robyn and Kayleigh.

*The Grand Cafe- In this bar its happy hour the whole day which includes brittish drinks eg Red Bull and Wkd so i would give it a try.

*Turisme 35- Is a good club with a mixture of people and music. In which you will propably bump into the guys from the whitehorse.

All in all you will really enjoy this holiday!!!

We booked yesterday for a week at this hotel with teltext. Its at Easter and costing 400 for the 2 of us. So I am going with an open mind and might just use the hotel as a base. Are the sister hotels in walking distance and can you use the all inclusive in these hotels as well. Not so much for meals but for a drinks if you go for a walk If so do you have to book I would presume you do for meals but can you just pop in for a drink.

Spent a few days in Calella with 11 blokes on a stag do.
Had the best time ever.
If you where there at the same time you will know who we were.
Meet some great people (Hope you had a great 40th Birthday).
Saturday night was the best night for me started in the Amaika continued in a club round the corner.
The worst part was 5AM sunday when the taxis arrived and it was time to say good bye.
Heres to the next stag weekend.
