Yes it's 21st october at my son's school, think that's the date of most school's holidays, as that week in holiday brochures is sure bumped up!!!BBB.

It's the last week in October here in Somerset too. Local council's have their own websites which should show term dates but I think the October half term week is pretty standard across the whole country. Here's a link to a website where you can search for your local council's website by region. It also provides links to all UK council website's so you should be able to find out school term dates for any region if you really wanted to.

:D Niki-tam -I don't blame you not wanting to go in school hols, I remember before I had my lad, I always avoided school hols as we prefered a nice peaceful holiday without loads of screaming kids!!!, BBB.

In my experience whenever you go to package holiday destinations these days you seem to end up sharing the hotel with school age kids as parents are more prepared to take them out in term time than they used to be.

Cyprus is really nice in Oct.I'd start looking in August.

£230 per week in October should be no problem.

Where are you flying from ?

Is half board a must ? Depending where you go, a lot of the fun is trying out local restaurants.

Have a look at http://www.instantlates.co.uk, some good deals there already for October.

Best of luck, hope you book somewhere nice,

Robby

Hi Eeyoremoo,

I replied to your request on the Tenerife forum, he is the answer again. Hope that his helps.

I've done a bit of research for you and this is what i think will suit you.
You say that you can fly from man or east midlands, i have found flights on 10th october which is a Monday (not usual for tenerife) but they are from birmingham for 1 week it will cost you £247
BMX - TEN 10th Oct 14.45-19.15
TEN - BMX 17th Oct 20.15-00.15

the cheapest apt i can get for you is Laguna park 2 for £132.

That is a total cost of £379 insurance will cost you a extra £20 and transfers to and from the airport will be about £35 making a total cost of £434.

but to be honest i would not go for laguna park 2 accommodation it is not at the lively side of the resort and it is up a hill. I would go for the Optimist/playa Azul these are £181 or the 3* hotel tropical Playa which is half board for £286

So for £247 flights and £286 half board (no meals need to be paid for) £20 insurance and £35 transfers means £588 for everything. You only have to pay for the beer..............................give me a pm if you need any more help.

eeyoremoo, if you can fly from Manchester, you can leave if pretty late if you want - maybe you will get 2 holidays for not much more than £230  .

I am going away in early October and won't book until about 2 weeks before, but I'm not really bothered where I am going.

With being a first holiday, I would advise booking something you like as soon as you find it, or you may start to panic a little as the time deminishes.

Best of luck, keep us informed,

Robby

I am looking at going somewhere during October half term, there will be myself and my son who will be 5. I would like to find somewhere suitable for us both, but the warmest place possible, and working to a fairly tight budget as we had our main holiday to the Dom Rep back in Feb

Any suggestions about where to go or accommodation would be gratefully received, after a bad experience earlier this year I would prefer not for it to be anything to do with Thomson! But would like something self catering, as warm as possible with no longer than 4 - 4 1/2 hours flying time. We've been to Crete and zante and love Greece, but like to stay in a place within a town so we can wander around at night....with nice beach etc...

Any suggestions would be welcome...thanks!

Thanks

If you want the warmth for sure then I think you should look at the Canaries. I would suggest los cristianos in tenerife.

If looking at mainland Spain or Majorca although weather should be good it can be hit or miss.

Kind Regards
