There are plans afoot to extend the LC beach all the way from the harbour past the sunday market towards the Arona Gran Hotel but so far nothing as been agreed. The cabildo needs to demolish 2 old apartment blocks on the beach side before works can commence and there seems to be some legal probs. not surprisingly
thanks again peter, once again you prove to be a fountain of knowledge on tenerife related matters. Its just i was sent an e-mail frm key properties with development el rincon, which i belive is right on the sea front behind the gran hotel, and they mentioned about the new beach currently under development and exclusive shopping mall.It can only be good news for us who own property in the oasis del sur area, with a usable beach that close to us.
The Arona council need to acquire the 2 apartment blocks on the beach side of the walkway behind the Comodora and Oasis Moroque apartments.
These need to be demolished so the new beach can be linked with the beach at the harbour. Judging by the time its taken to open the new link road to the TF1 it should be a very interesting development with loads of twists and turns.
I personally dont venture much down the hill now what with the new pool at the Paradise Park and when the new shopping centre is open and the new bars and restaurants on Dinastia and El Mirador are all open Margaret and Lynette will never make past those.
We could see 2 years ago the potential of the area. Heres looking forward to the next few years
I don't know if anybody can remember 3 years ago "Place In The Sun " went to Tenerife, and the couple were shown an apartment on the front, opposite the tesco supermarket. The presenter said that within the year they would have a clear view of the sea , as the two apartment blocks opposite had been built without permission, and were going to be pulled down. Three years later they are still there, Tenerife speed for you.
Done some research on this topic and came accross the minutes of arona council meeting published by oasis and crn,the council insisted that the development of los cristianos beach was paramount to the future success of los cristianos as a tourist destiantion. And that Madrid council authority had agreed to fund the regeneraion of las torajales beach and the widening of los cristianos promenade. But the major of arona who had recently returned from madrid was waiting for the conclusion of la laguna university research on the consequences to the bay of los cristianos if a man made beach was created. This was taken last friday so maybe things might start to happen. If like carol and peter said that they were waiting for the demolition of two apatment blocks before work could commence, this wouldn't be the cristimar, because if so horizon are still marketing apartments there for sale.So conflicting issues we shall wait and see.At least the shopping development is well under way on the beach front.
