Just a few places that we would like to recommend.............

Genesis Steak House............First on our list of places to eat. This place has the most WONDERFUL food. Even the food on the children's menu is lovely. The Torneado Rossini is an absolute MUST..........please, please visit this establishment, you will NOT be dissapointed. It is located a few minutes from Bar Street on the way to 'Universal'. It is on the same road as Apomero (Greek) Restaurant and just across from The Margarita Gardens, IkarouSt. (Nr. Rugby Arms).

Next we would like to recommend 'Apomero' (Nr.Genesis), fantastic Meze.

Next we would strongly recommend 'Grazie', Italian restaurant (nr. The Rose pub) close to the municipal beach. This is a really special night out. Very 'posh', to put it bluntly. We had a lovely meal here and felt like it was money very well spent. We finished the meal with a 'lemoncella' which is an Italian liquore and very firey!

Okay, the one that you are waiting for.............THE UGLY!!!!!

DEMOKRATIS..........Greek Restaurant on Bar Street. We were tempted by the traditional dancing and entertainment, thought that the kids would enjoy this!! What a JOKE!!!
The entertainment was terrible, really poor. They also stopped this because 'Anthony Costa' from the group 'Blue' was there to do a small filming for a T.V. programme. (Anthony was lovely by the way and great with the fans). But the food was Appalling, I don't think I can recall having worse. 5 out of the 6 meals were quite frankly inedible. The prawns were crunchy (not peeled properly) and tasteless and the steaks were burnt to a crisp. The waiters didn't bring the drinks or sauses and were more interested in being in the background of the T.V. show.
We complained to a lady who said she was the manager, she then went and got a guy who she said was the 'real' manager (who also is a P.R. outside Bubbles later on in the evening, so I would dispute that he is the Manager of Demikritos). He was RUDE and ABUSIVE. He said that the food 'looks alright to me' and then walked off. When we challenged him later he said 'It's people like you who give Brits a bad name, you just want your mony back'. Well, yes, we didn't want to pay for meals that were just left un touched on our plates because they were inedible, what is the problem with that?? My Husband pulled me away because he actually though this guy was going to give me a thump! Nice eh??
Oh, and this was the most expensive of all of the places that we went to!!

Also if you're in paphos market you'll find a cobblers with a large cowboy boot hanging outside. If you walk away from the market towards the boot, cross over to the opposite side, near the supermarket you'll find a small sign on a door frame pointing towards a garden. Enter and you'll walk through the owner's kitchen to a small courtyard. It couldn't be described in anyway as luxurious but the family are very friendly and are probably the only ones in paphos that do not speak much English, apart from beer, coffee, kebab. We love it.
Does anyone recognise this description of an eaterie in the old town. Do you know the place :?: :?: :?:

Kato Paphos:
The Seagull, opposite MacDonalds.
Mothers, behind Woolies/Ermes near the Harbour car park.

If you have a vehicle:
St Georges in Agios Georgios.
The Lara Tavern (with care unless you have a 4X4)

Hello Mark, I'm a bit confused with these two you recommend.

I've noticed there generally seems to be different spellings for places and restaurants.

Are your two the same as:
Seven St Georges in Geroskipos/Yeroskepos village
Viklari Restaurant aka The Last Castle :?:

This eating out lark is such an effort - but we have to do it..!! :P :P :P

Tanks...

Where are those two venues? Agios Georgios is west of Coral Bay, nice fish taverna there also further on is The last Castle, (Viklari)...another taverna that opens lunch times only for nice BBQ food..difficult at times to get to..4x4 does make it easier..

YES & YES Seven St Georges in Geroskipos/Yeroskepos village ??
Viklari Restaurant aka The Last Castle :P

I enjoyed the food at Manhattans, a lovely Strogonoff.
It's in the begining of Bar Street.

Right :)
I've sussed it now. Ta

Yep. That's on me To Do List aswell. Thanks KAZZZZA. Although I'm not a fan of strog - don't like the sharp vinegar taste :?

I also have to endorse Manhatten.Out of all the restaurants to choose in Kato Paphos we went there 4 or 5 times. The owner was very friendly and always made a point of coming over and having a chat with us.The food was excellent(obviously) as was the service.A tad on the pricey side but hey, your on holiday!!
Other places I would recommend are Romantica, along from The Aloe Hotel and Rimini as mentioned above.Rimini can be a bit hectic as Panicos, the head man, tries to pack in as many people as he can.If you are looking for a nice relaxing atmosphere then this place isn't for you but the food does make up for it.The Seagull was also very good,at the beginning of the harbour on the left hand side.
One place that I did not enjoy was the Italian at the very begining of the pedestrian street heading towards the harbour. Can't remember the name of the place but what I was served I wouldn't feed it to my cat.Maybe just caught them on a bad night.

I love Phivos......opposite the Almyra Hotel. They do a kleftico to die for.

The Rib Shack does excellent food too  Had some great sardines at

the harbour but can't remember what restaurant  and I was sober

Genesis is a little lost jewel in Paphos because of where it's situated, it's very easy to miss! We are extremely pleased to have found it though!

There is a website, http://www.gmbds.com/genres.htm

This shows some of the menue and the prices. Can I very highly recommend the Torneado Rossini, £10.00, worth every penny. You also getdishes of chips or potatoes (or both) and lovely veg. Much, much better than the poor excuse for a meal at the restaurant which we mentioned earlier (better not go on and on about how bad it was, although I'd really LOVE to!!)

Tankard.

If (when?) you find The Viklari/Last Castle Tavern, carry on along the coast road (track) for a couple more miles and you will see signs for the LARA Tavern, pointing left towards the sea.
Run by a lovelly couple.
There may well be a shorter route from Kathikas coming from inland instead of going along the coast.

Mark

PS: Leon on draught at The Lara!!! Whoopeeeee!!!

Came as a big surprise to me too.
Little taverna, middle of nowhere with Leon at all would have been enough, but on draught???!!!
