It looked lovely when I was in Paphos a few weeks ago Presto. Grounds were lovely and quiet and just looks like an extension to the Athena.

I did notice though that some of the 'older' staff from the Athena were serving breakfast outside.

However, I am at the Athena in a few weeks, so will be able to give you the full run down then.

Hi, just come back from Paphos on Saturday and stayed at Athena Beach next door. New hotel looks lovely and when we walked past (the beach side) looked very quiet, hardly anyone on the sunbeds!!!! You should have a lovely time

I have booked to go to the Athena Royal in July of next year. As this is a new hotel there arent many reviews available. Has anyone stayed there? What is it like? I know we can use the facilites of the Athena Beach but can guests staying there use the Athena Royal & if not, how do they identify who is staying at which hotel? Are there plenty of sunbeds or do you have to get up at the crack of dawn? recently stayed at the Alexander the Great who operate great allocation system but fancied a different hotel

Hi Patsy
We stayed at the Royal at the end of September for two weeks.
The hotel is for adults only and is very peacefull, and there are plenty of sunbeds, beach towels can be obtained from the Gym.
Each room has a fridge, iron and ironing board, also a kettle with tea and coffee.
As we used to live in Paphos we went out most evenings for our meals,
we stayed in once for the Cypriot Night and the food was great and only CY£12 each.

Thanks very much for the reply. I am really looking forward to the holiday, we really enjoyed Paphos when we visited in September but fancied a different hotel & the Athena Royal looked really good.
What sort of temperatures should we expect end June/early July, will it be quite unbearable? it was a lot hotter than we expected when we visisted in September.
Also, what sort of age group will there be around that time? We are mid 30's and in September it was generally 'older' which we were more than happy with but can we expect a much younger crowd in June?

Sorry for all the questions, I'm taking advantage of you previously living in Paphos!!!

Patsy - I haven't had the advantage of living in Paphos but have holidayed there for the last 4 years at the end of June early July and I can tell you its very hot. We stay at the Athena Beach and, in our opinion, its in the best part of Paphos. You'll have a lovely holiday I'm sure of it and when you return again, which you will, you'll qualify for your 10% discount card and have an even better time!!!!

Hi Patsy
Do not worry about the heat ,you will find a nice breeze coming off the sea,and as I have said before shade is plentiful.
The age group is mixed, and usually people who have been many times to Paphos.
You can stock your Fridge either from the hotel supermarket ,or from Debenham's down near the harbour.

Its a lovely hotel. You can use the gardens at both the hotels. When I was there earlier this year (Athena Beach) we were allowed to use the beds at at the Athena Royal. It was really quiet.

We went in there regularly to drink and all being well we shall be staying there ourselves in July!

Hi Kath

Please do not tell everyone about using the sunbeds at the Athena Royal,
I stayed at the Athena for a couple of years but it got very noisy.
When you stay at the Royal take plenty of Clip coat hangers with you ,the wardrobes are very narrow.

first post so bear with me!

Hi to All , Great site :D

We're due to go and stay at the Athena Royal in the coming weeks... soooo excited! :D

I'm a non swimmer and normally rely on one of those exercise bouyancy tubes to keep me afloat
I've read somewhere (can't remeber where!) that at the royal you can't take anything into the pool?

Anyone got experience of this or can give me an idea of the depth of the pools at the hotel?

thanks :D

Never seen anyone with anything in the pool - I think the rules around the pool say that you can't.

That said, I am sure I have seen people use them in the Athena Beach pool next door.

It's a lovely hotel, very quiet but verrrrrry relaxing. Will be there myself again hopefully in July.
