Decided to go to Belfast for a family treat, as mum retired the weekend before. There were 6 of us, who flew with easyjet from Liverpool at 9.30am on the friday morning. Great flight and left on time (wish all flights were on time)
Got the Bus from the airport to Belfast cost £6 or £9 return, we chose 1 way. It took about 40 mins on the bus. We got of at the terminus then we walked to our hotel the 3* Benedicts hotel (and what a great hotel)
As our rooms were not ready we left our luggage in reception and went in to Belfast city center. What a very nice and clean city. We did a bit of shopping and had a look around city hall. Then we made our way back to our hotel stopping of at Robinsons Bar for a few drinks and a bet (the pub has plenty of tv's which have racing on) and the betting office is next door. This pub is opposit the Europa Hotel, which is famous for being the most bombed hotel in Belfast.
Then it was back to our hotel for a hours sleep. We met in reception at 7.00pm as we had a table booked in the hotel for a meal. This was excellent the quality of the food was fantastic, you have to book at it gets full up very quick. The hotel has a bar downstaris which is open till 2.00am, but it is not for my parents to much loud music.
So we went for a walk into the city center and had a drink at The fountain pub, this is a nice little pub and had a 4 peice group playing irish music on. None of us wanted much to drink so we decided to walk back to the hotel again we stopped at Robinsons for a drink this pub was now booming. Next door but 1 is the famous Crown Liquor Saloon, so we had one in here. Then we walked back to our hotel. The bar downstaris was to noisey for my parents. So we went upstairs to the restaurant, where they have a bar here. At the front of the hotel on fooor 1 there are 3 balconies. As the night was quite warm we got chairs and sat here all 6 of us. it was real fun cause we were watching all the kids popping over the road to Laverys bar. Then it was of to bed around 1.30am oh sleeping in luxury a king size bed with a goose down duvet.
Went for breakfast at 9.30am toast, cereal fruit juice and coffee as much as you like, then you can choose a cooked breakfast fo the menu. went for a walk up to the Botanic gardens then went down the the river Lagan and had a walk down here walking down towards the city center.
Went into Belfast again for a bit of shopping (it was a shopping trip for us) stopped at the Apartment bar opposit city hall for a coffee. Then me and my mum went on the open top bus for a bit of sightseeing. it was windy on the bus, we went down to the titanci Quarter and saw where the ship was built. Then it was of to the crumlin road jail, shankill road and the falls road. This is a very interesting tour, some of the wall murals are great. We even got behind a parade.
then it was of to meet my dad at (yes you have guessed it ) robinsons for a few drinks and a bet.
We had tea at a cafe opposit the hotel, then we went into Belfast for a walk then it was time for a taxi ride back to the airport. This cost us £36 for the 6 of us. Flight left on time and we were back home.
I can't do a review of the hotel because it is not there, but Glynis will put it there in the next few days and i'll update it.
i'm glad you enjoyed your trip to belfast, if i had have known you were visiting our city i would have arranged to meet up with you.
