Thank you Moggerooney. What a lovely, helpful review. And thanks for all the tips. We're going to the Neptuno in August - can't wait What were the rooms like? Were you in hotel rooms or apartments? It all sound lovely!!
Thanks
Sue
The hotel run a laundry service if it is needed - 6 euros for washing and drying and a little more if you want ironing done - useful to know if you have little ones and have to pack 14 daytime and nightime outfits.
Ar for the FLYS they are everywhere in fact we qualified for the world fly squatting championships after realising it was a new Olympic Games event................
One thing i will say is the Almeria airport is a disgrace the check-in is abysmal to have 200+ people queuing up for nearly 2hours at our gate to the point of once through to the departure longe we were called to our flight which was running half hour late as it was.The problem it seems they were training new staff .Why train staff on the busiest day of the year in Almeria with the opening of the Med Games and full resorts all through Almeria bacause of the games. The airport was to small for that many people. The logistics should have been sorted months ago......................... .Regards Stevie
The fly problem is not as bad later on (August time)
Yes the airport situation was very bad I must agree but hopefully they will learn from their mistakes to avoid the same problem in future. We are thinking of returning in August next year so as Robert123 says I hope the fly situation is not so bad. Feel crap to be back at home now next year seems a long way a way
Looking at all the reports it seems like i have made a good choice for my 1st holiday in spain.
There is a kids club, but this is mainly aimed at the Spanish Kids, the other entertainment there is all in Spanish which is hardly surprising as the place is a mainly Spanish Hotel, some of it is quite good
I would be interested to hear from anyone with children the same age as well who can recommend things to do with the little mite both during the day & in the evening. I've heard the water park & mini hollywood r 2 good days out.
Also does anyone know if you can get a boat trip to morrocco and how much it would cost.
There was a kids disco and a few games which just seemed to be getting up and running when we left towards the end of june. i think it is geared towards spannish but the entertainers do speak good english. There isn't much more but there was a parrot show and acrobats on a couple of nights. It may be a good idea to have a look in other hotels as some entertainment is better than others there was a white hotel almost opposite the supermarket which seemed quite geared up for children. Hope this helps.
You can get ferries from Almeria port to Morocco , also from Mallaga and Algeciras if you travel down the coast first, don't forget some of them go to Cueta and Melilla which are in fact Spanish owned enclaves in Morocco , this link may be useful

The aqua park is good, however it is sea water and t-shirts are not allowed on the slides for safety reasons. Mini Hollywood is really good but be warned it is really really hot the zoo is good and so is the entertainment, gun fights, can can girls etc.
In a way, I'm glad that it sounds like there's not too much entertainment, that was one thing I was a bit concerned about, ie having constant noise! (Although with lots Spanish kiddies around you tend to get plenty of that!)
We've stayed in private apartments in the past with no entertainment, but have walked into hotels and joined in their's which was ideal, as you could take or leave it!
We were also thinking of doing a boat trip, but perhaps just around the bays for a bit of snorkelling, etc and my friend who went to Roquetas last year said that the waterpark was great.
I think we definitely made a good choice with the Neptuno, it looks lovely, the positives seem to far out-way the negatives and I can't wait to get there!
Hope to see you there.
Sue
We are going out on 18th August to 25th. Have heard weather is extremely hot that time of year.
Hope you have a good holiday and maybe will see you there
Yes I think the whole of Southern Spain can be extremely hot in August so plenty of sun screen! I think the Almeria is also particularly dry from what I've read.
Hope you have a nice holiday too, we'll look out for the newcomers on the 18th! Have a great time either way.
Sue
Yes it is very hot in August, but watch out for the cooling wind, it can deceive you! You will still burn
Thanks for the warning, but somehow I manage to get burnt every year!! Why break the habit of a lifetime!!
Sue
Same here , although my other half who is very blond and pale skinned never does, she is far more careful than me
Ditto! Plus I spend my life plastering the kids with cream and I still can't be sensible! Bit of a sun worshippper I'm afraid!
