Hi Sue, the rooms were fine, 2 double beds resonable wardrobe space but not that much drawer space for the 3 that was in our room. However the storage was fine as there was selves etc. The room we was in was a hotel room and not an apartment however I beleive the apratments did have the same bed provision. Our room had a bath with shower over, toilet bidet and sink with little complimentary shampoos, shoe cleaner etc. Plenty of bath towels. Once they are dirty if you leave them on the floor they will change them. beds made everyday and the floor was washed daily. Our bathroom always smelt a bit bleachy but this only ment to us that it was nice and clean which it always was. Always plenty of toilet roll which is necessary when you have a child/children in with you. There was room to move around the bed and the balconies were roughtly the same width of the room these had 2 chairs and a table. Our room was right in front of the lift and thus we heard an amount of lift noise as it went up and down the hotel so this may be something to consider. Not particularly a problem as during the night they wern't used and was only day time noise but not anything too bad. it took us a couple of days to work out what the sound was. Air conditioning worked in our room but didn't in friends of ours but to be quite honest the rooms wern't too hot. A tip - the room electric works in a simmilar way to hotels here you use your keycard to the door to turn on the electric thus to save energy. i suggest you have 2 keys anyway as we did but if the rooms do become too hot you can keep the aircon on so as to come into a cool room.

The hotel run a laundry service if it is needed - 6 euros for washing and drying and a little more if you want ironing done - useful to know if you have little ones and have to pack 14 daytime and nightime outfits.

Hi mggerrooney it was a pleasure to meet you as well ........ .I have to endorse what you have written. We however where in a self catering appartment so our layout was slightly different the bedrooms and bathrooms were the same but with the addittion of a lounge and kitchen. The lounge concisted of 1 bed settee with a pullout bed beneath it, an armchair a built in wall unit with TV point above and a table and 4 chairs. The kitchen was very basic .IT consisted of a large fridge/freezer,a combination microwave and grill,a 2 ring hob, a coffee maker and a sink unit .Suprisingly no kettle and no oven.
Ar for the FLYS they are everywhere in fact we qualified for the world fly squatting championships after realising it was a new Olympic Games event................ :P
One thing i will say is the Almeria airport is a disgrace the check-in is abysmal to have 200+ people queuing up for nearly 2hours at our gate to the point of once through to the departure longe we were called to our flight which was running half hour late as it was.The problem it seems they were training new staff .Why train staff on the busiest day of the year in Almeria with the opening of the Med Games and full resorts all through Almeria bacause of the games. The airport was to small for that many people. The logistics should have been sorted months ago......................... :rage .Regards Stevie

The fly problem is not as bad later on (August time)

Yes the airport situation was very bad I must agree but hopefully they will learn from their mistakes to avoid the same problem in future. We are thinking of returning in August next year so as Robert123 says I hope the fly situation is not so bad. Feel crap to be back at home now next year seems a long way a way :(

:?: I am staying in Neptuno apartments with a 7 year old & 3 adults in august is there any entertainment for the kiddies at hotel or near the hotel my child loves karoke & discos. Also does anyone know is it cheaper to buy cigarettes duty free or wait till in spain.
Looking at all the reports it seems like i have made a good choice for my 1st holiday in spain.

There is a kids club, but this is mainly aimed at the Spanish Kids, the other entertainment there is all in Spanish which is hardly surprising as the place is a mainly Spanish Hotel, some of it is quite good

Thanx Robert123
I would be interested to hear from anyone with children the same age as well who can recommend things to do with the little mite both during the day & in the evening. I've heard the water park & mini hollywood r 2 good days out.
Also does anyone know if you can get a boat trip to morrocco and how much it would cost.

There was a kids disco and a few games which just seemed to be getting up and running when we left towards the end of june. i think it is geared towards spannish but the entertainers do speak good english. There isn't much more but there was a parrot show and acrobats on a couple of nights. It may be a good idea to have a look in other hotels as some entertainment is better than others there was a white hotel almost opposite the supermarket which seemed quite geared up for children. Hope this helps.

Hi Dobbo , re karaoke , The Tavern and Y Da Wakes bars both have regular karaoke nights and are quite close to the Neptuno , a bit further afield are PB's and Theos , I think PB's does karaoke on Thurs,Fri and sat. Theos is every nite except Thur I think.
You can get ferries from Almeria port to Morocco , also from Mallaga and Algeciras if you travel down the coast first, don't forget some of them go to Cueta and Melilla which are in fact Spanish owned enclaves in Morocco , this link may be useful
http://www.cemar.it/dest/ferries_morocco.htm especially the Ferry Morocco and the TransMediterrania links

The aqua park is good, however it is sea water and t-shirts are not allowed on the slides for safety reasons. Mini Hollywood is really good but be warned it is really really hot the zoo is good and so is the entertainment, gun fights, can can girls etc.

Thanks for all the useful advice as always - I love this site! - and Hi Dobbo. We're also going to the Neptuno in August - 9th - 23rd, when are you travelling? We have two kids, 9 and 10 so it's interesting to hear about the entertainment.

In a way, I'm glad that it sounds like there's not too much entertainment, that was one thing I was a bit concerned about, ie having constant noise! (Although with lots Spanish kiddies around you tend to get plenty of that!)

We've stayed in private apartments in the past with no entertainment, but have walked into hotels and joined in their's which was ideal, as you could take or leave it!

We were also thinking of doing a boat trip, but perhaps just around the bays for a bit of snorkelling, etc and my friend who went to Roquetas last year said that the waterpark was great.

I think we definitely made a good choice with the Neptuno, it looks lovely, the positives seem to far out-way the negatives and I can't wait to get there!

Hope to see you there.

 Hi Dobbo

Yes I think the whole of Southern Spain can be extremely hot in August so plenty of sun screen! I think the Almeria is also particularly dry from what I've read.

Hope you have a nice holiday too, we'll look out for the newcomers on the 18th! Have a great time either way.
