We were traveling back from parma to mancester on 20/5 with thomson fly and although all the staff knew on the thomson spirit that there was a 6 hour delay on the flight they were still shouting at passengers that the coach was waiting to leave for the airport.
What i really need to know is are we entitled to any money back?

                It is ot normal for airlines to offer compensation for a 6 hour delay. They would normally have issued refreshment vouchers once the delay was known.
The reason for going to the airport could well be that the check-in needed to be at t normal time. Also it sounds like you were coming off a ship and they would be wanting to make it ready for new arrivalswho may not be coming in on the delayed flight.

Yes your right, we were on our way home but still had the trouble of the delay because we were supposed to pick our kids up 6yrs and 8yrs at 11pm(on our honeymoon so they didnt come with us )and then we didnt know what was going on and who would have them that night,We sorted it out though (kids were not pleased as they wanted their presents :roll:)nothing to do with mum and dad.

                apparently there are new rules for flight delays, like what stewart said, if you are delayed for longer than 4 hours you are entitled to refreshment vouchers as that happened to us when we flew from manchester in march, then they are supposed to provide additional vouchers if its delayed for longer than 8 hours...|I think
I suppose they just try to get you into the airport to get you checked regardless of the delay but its a real pain sitting around all day.

                We were delayed for 5hours last year, when we were flying out to Cyprus.                 Have spent many happy hours sitting at the airport because of delayed flights. I accept that the TO may have no choice due to check in systems requiring passengers to be there. What I find insulting and not acceptable is the reps denying that there is any problems. I am sure that if they told the truth people would not get upset. If you are in resort and are told that there will be a delay you can then ensure you have food, drinks etc instead of having to pay exhorbitant airport prices.

                The "Safe & Sound" document mentions being due compensation for a delay of over 2 hours (depending on distance to be travelled).                 We were delayed 4.5 hours flying back from Innsbruck airport in May this year. We were flying with Austrian Airlines.
We were given lunch vouchers, which they needn't have done!! What was really nice was that Innsbruck airport is quite small, spotlessly clean and the one restaurant has a balcony that overlooks the runway. It was a beautiful hot sunny day and we sat out on the balcony admiring the very scenic mountain view, watching planes comes in and out. It was most enjoyable time.
However I can see how delays can be frustrating but for us it was a very pleasant experience!!
