Hiya,
This is my first posting on this forum, as I've only been on one AI holiday, and that was 10 years ago.
I've been reading about a couple of AI hotels on another forum here, and guests at 2 different hotels in different resorts this year have commented on there being gangs of drunken teenagers roaming the complexes . This is something I never even considered, but now I think of it, I guess it would be pretty easy for them to get copious amounts of alcohol at an AI.
Is this a problem all over with AI hotels?
Elaine
Elaine, yes it can be a problem, and in many cases it's the parents who are at fault, having availed themselves of the all-inclusive facilities as well!!!
We went alinc last year and this year to menorca and didnt encounter any drunk teens but we did go in term time. There were a few teens but they were behaving themselves. And i suppose this was menorca.
We've been all inclusive now 7 times. The first 2 times were to Majorca and Menorca, we had several drunken teenagers in Majorca, in Menorca there was an old guy who spent his days constantly P****d! To be honest that is the only time I've ever seen someone obviously drunk. The other all-incs have been spent in Greece and Cyprus.
The manager got her mother in and gave her the hard word, the mother then got the bar staff together and gave them some of the same.
A good result all round as these tactics worked. The lass stayed sober, the staff kept their bits, pieces and jobs, and the guests got their sleep.
I've been to several AI's in the Caribbean and Europe and you do get the odd group of idots who make the most of the AI bar facilities. I wouldn't say its a widespread problem as such, it really depends on parents as much as anything. I've seen some who don't have a problem in their sons/daughters drinking whatever they like, even as young as say 12 and 13. It also depends on the rating of the hotel as well. I've never seen a problem in 5 star hotels, mainly 3 star (I don't mean that to sound snobby or anything, but kids who stay with parents in 5 stars are generally better behaved than those who are in 3 stars). I wouldn't worry about it.
