We have promised our 2 daughters 19 and 24 years old and one of their boyfriends that we would take them away for a week during October. My 24 year old is now a teacher so we can only get away with her during the school half term so our dates are not really flexible and we are struggling to come up with the right holiday destination. We originally were going to take them to Sharm El Sheikh but the recent bombings have put me off taking them there and to be honest I just cannot think of a destination that would suit us all. We dont fancy any of the Spanish or Canary Island resorts and it is too late for Turkey or Greece as it will take us into November and most resorts in that area are closed for the season by that date. We dont want a really long flight due to us only having a 7 nighter and we fancy somewhere where we can almost guarentee the sun - so is there any destination anyone can suggest?
The last holiday we all went to together was the Gambia and we all loved it - it was such an unusual holiday and my 2 daughters and my daughters boyfriend just loved seeing such a different culture and visiting some of the amazing sights and places that are on offer in Gambia and we would return there but Gambia doesn't offer hols there until early November. We all like to get out and about and see some local culture and the last thing we all want is to arrive somewhere and just spend the week lying around on a sunbed doing absolutely nothing. Cannot ever understand why folk go away and then never leave the resort - when I have visited places and just stayed put I always return from my holiday feeling I have missed out and my best hols have always been when we have gone off exploring and visitng local points of interests and sampling the real spirit of a country. We like to chill out, read a book and unwind but we also like to do a spot of sightseeing too. So we would prefer somewhere that offers the best of both worlds.
We quite fancy Northern Cyprus and would like to know what we could expect from the weather at that time of year? So if anyone has been there and can reccomend any apartments, villas or hotels that are centrally located we would appreciate their advice and also anyone who can give us any info on Northern Cyprus and what they thought to it would be welcome. Also which resort would be the best for 2 mature adults and 3 young people?
If anyone can come up with any other ideas for a possible holiday destination in late October early November - then I would be interested to hear from you.

but not as busy in the resort, more "laid back" atmosphere. Consider Protaras, and you are also only a 10minute drive away from Ayia Napa. Aswell as clubs and bars, dont forget the Funfair (massive!) and Waterpark. This stays open until October 31st. Ask on the Cyprus forum for info about Northern Cyprus-have heard they have some beautiful beaches!
