The last time we went to Zante was a late october holiday and although it was nice and warm it also rained it was bad enough one day they cancelled the boats to the main land

I wouldn't pick Zante at that time of of year. Crete will be warmer as it's farther south. Most places tend to 'wind down' as the season has really finished by then.
If you've not yet booked, have you thought about Cyprus? It can be lovely at that time of year. We had gorgeous weather a couple if years ago when we went in the third week of Oct.

We have already booked our holiday to zante in october so we shall just have to hope for the best. We were on quite a tight budget and unfortunately cyprus and turkey were quite pricey for october, so we plumped for zante on a BB price breaker.

Anyway its bound to be warmer their, than the chilly east coast of the uk
