Agree - try Conwy or Llandudno (or bangor, caernarfon, bettws). Plenty of choice and reasonable

Al B&B's are cheap in Rhyl. Don't go there, stay somewhere else. You'll be glad you did. I suggest Llandudno if you want a family resort with lots of things to do. You can always visit Rhyl for a day trip and then congratulate yourself for not staying there.

Sorry but it really is a horrible place.

Got to agree with everyone else here. My partner lives in Abergele just a few miles away from Rhyl and the air turns blue when he starts to describe what he thinks of Rhyl.

The whole place is tatty and run down and really not worth going. Llandundo has nice beaches and overall is in much better nick !

True...dont stay in Rhyl, I live an hour down the road and the B&Bs are grotty......

go with lallygirl, stay in Caernarfon!! LOL, only cos I live there
Place I would stay is Llandudno. me and my boyfriend went in the car there the other day after coming from the cinema. It really is nice in the summer, with lovely B&Bs, and Im not biased cos I live nearby!! Its got a pier with amusements, loads of shops, a decent beach, cablecars across the Great Orme, ski slope and toboggan run, cineworld (with the best ice cream ever!) and bowling alley. Its also within distance of Rhyl or Caernarfon, if you want to go to the fair, or castle....

I read the heading for this post and thought as all of the above, 'you want to stay in Rhyl?' Then I opened it and thought how justified the comments were.

We stayed at prestatyn last year, a break in a holiday park. Wnet into Ryhl with the children, and yuk, it's so DIRTY. And rundown. Whatever happened to the place, I used to have such fond memories as a child.

Have to agree, save your money and go somewhere else. Actually anywhere else.

Have now offended all those you live in Rhyl. Sorry, but I'm happy for you to critisise Staffs. :)

I live north wales, and we love to go to Pensarn on the bikes with the kids we cycle all the way Rhos on sea.
Pensarn is just a little further along than Abergele, along the cycle route there are some lovely caravan parks and the views are beautiful.

We do take it for granted we live in such a lovely area, its 10minutes along the A55 and were on one of the nicest coastal stretches of Wales :D

As for Rhyl It a damn shame it really is. :(

It is a shame

I used to go there every summer for a day out with my family when I was a kid, and we used to have such a good time.

Now everything's run down and boarded up. Even the fair isnt worth visiting anymore, and I deffo wouldnt stay at any of the B&Bs (well the ones on the front are grotty)

I wanted to go to the Sun Centre on Saturday and I even get trouble persuading my boyf to go with me....

I live outside Rhyl and I agree with much that is said, but if you want, the fair, amusement arcades+++ tacky tourist shops, chippys etc then maybe you will like it. In answer to your question I don't know of anywhere cheap, but my late Dad always said clean net curtains where a good indication, the West End has plenty streets running of the prom all with b and b's, but the East End has less but is quieter and less tacky, it also has the Suncenter a large indoor pool complex with water shoots and slides etc. tourist office is01745 355068 for Rhyl they should have list of places. Llandudnno is a lovely resort, but I don't know what you are after, so difficult to advise. If you can't get any joy and still want to come will drive along and check the nets and send you some tel numbers
Jay....as a Warringtonian in excile near Rhyl
Agree with Ali I do take this area for granted, forgot how beautiful the coastal view was till stuck in traffic just out side Abergele the other day :wave
