Hi, in August the best weather is most probably in Ko Samui, I have visited Ko Samui 3 times in August and we've had the odd rainy spell but lots of bright sunshine.
The beaches there are good for children too, I prefer quieter spots like Choeng mon or Bophut but there are great beaches everywhere.
