I would try Virgin flying from Gatwick. Virgin give free in flights from Glasgow to Gatwick sometimes for long haul destinations. We paid Virgin £10 for return trip from Glasgow to Gatwick. Maybe the destinations are too long haul for you though. I'm not exactlly sure of all the destinations Virgin go to.

I don't think Tunisia is going to be that warm in December (dry - yes perhaps) - think you would be better off going to Gambia or Egypt if its cheap Winter sun you are after.
We went to Tunisia in February and it was sunny but cool (you couldn't use the outdoor pool).

We went to the Marriot at Taba Heights (Egypt : 5 to 6 hours flight) in January 2004 and can really recommend it - I've noticed some really good offers in the Sunday papers for this hotel only the other week flying from regional airports (Last minute.com also normally have it on offer). There is another hotel there the Regency Hyatt which is also excellent. These hotels are of a very high standard but they are fairly isolated so not suitable if you like sightseeing, nightlife or shops ! (plenty of good snorkelling & scuba diving though).

The Gambia (West Africa - 6hrs flight) is normally hot (and cheap) - but be prepared for a culture shock .....broadly similar to what you would expect India to be like.

If you are thnking about early december I would go for a late pagackage booking to caribbean. They come in very cheap, get a week in 4* A/I Dom/R or cuba for under £400 per person.

Around the 14 december you should get something cheap to carribean on a late deal, but don't leave it any later or you will be edging into xmas and prices will jump. The best time for cheap prices is the 1st week, saw 7nts A/I 4* to dom/rep and cuba for £350 A/I 3* for £299, if you wanted named the price moved towards £400.

If you are going Cuba or Dom Rep. on A/I basis, then I would strongly recommend you stretch to 4* IF you can ....... particularly if you want to avoid food poisoning and poor quality hotels (it is really hit & miss out there at 3*). It would be a pity to go all that way for your hard earned break and not fully enjoy the wonderful tropical experience...........just a thought

Looking for a holiday from Edinburgh in December too. Went to Cancun last year, Resort called Blue Bay Getaway. It's what you want mate. It's fairly priced and its and adult only place. Everything was good at the all inclusive. Hoping to get something as good elsewhere now.
