Hi Heather, I am not entirely sure where this hotel is- but I believe it is close (10 minutes walk ) to Sant' Agata. There is a good bus service from here into Sorrento, stop outside most hotels. The taxis are rather expensive from Sorrento town. Most hotels have shuttle services into Sorrento, and from there you can get to Naples, Amalfi, Pompeii etc easily.
It's a beautiful area- we liked being "up in the hills" for the views. There are some lovely walks around, and if you like walking the guide books with the sunflowers on the front give very good detail. Check out the public wash house in Sant Agata- it's like something from the 19th century! (still in use)
Your main problem will be the transfer from the airport, can't help with this, maybe someone else can. Just be careful in railway station area of Naples if you do it by train.

Thanks for this Kate. We're really looking forward to it now - mountain scenery & walks are definately our thing so it should be great. Strangely enough I had originally booked a Hotel in the Railway Station square in Naples & the reputation of that area was why we changed our booking (& almost doubled our budget!).

I thought we might give the hydrofoil or ferry from Naples to Sorrento a shot - anybody tried this?

I dont know if you have already gone by now, but if not, the easiest way to get to Massalubrense from Naples is by bus to Sorrento (bus can be caught o/s the Airport terminal and is fairly cheap). Once you get to Sorrento, you could easily get a taxi to Massalubrense, its not too far. If you haven't gone yet, check out this site which may help

Hop you get this in time - Naples is not a great place to be unsure where your going, but dont worry about Sorrento / Masslubrense, they are both great places.
