Hello,
We're I'm flying to Malaga mid Sept and cannot make up our minds where to stay !, we'd seen a nice place in Torreblanca Fuengirola, but have now seen a really nice place in Benalmadena near the Torrequebrada Casino
Where would be the best place for us to stay, (we are 2 couples aged between 33 & 55).
Is there much difference in general meal/bar prices in the resorts. Do they have a simalr number of places to eat/drink ?
I believe Torreblanca is 25 min walk to Fuengirola with a few bars to pop in on the way, likewise, the walk to the marina /24hr square is 25mins from Torrequebrada with a few bars ?
Any advice or suggestions are welcomed
Thanks
Danny
There again I could be just biased !!
Getting about is easy as taxis, buses and readily available we even went to places on the train.
We loved Benalmadena and plan to visit again next year.

It is not a very nice walk into Benalmadena from Torrequebrada, all on a very busy road and there is a lot of building work going on there. At least its a pleasant walk from Torreblanca and there is lots to do there, about ten minutes walk is Los Boliches with lots of shops.
Am I right in thinking that Torreblanca and Torrequbrada are within walking distance of each other ? and that we could easily/quickly, relatively cheaply reach Fuengirola centre by bus/taxi if we stayed in Benalmadena and vice versa !
Sorry to sound like a novice !, but have never been here before. I have been helping out in your Lanzarote forum though !
We did not care much for fuengerola, but thourght benelmadena was nice.
Torrequebrada Casino is in a lovely location sat right on the beach side, although slightly elevated I think. As posted says it is on main road and is isolated from any thing else in the area. Buses run and taxis are available but it is a long walk either way.
My advise would be to stay in Torreblanca and use this as your base.
Good luck on whatever you choose and have a nice holiday.
Stayed in Benalmadena last summer had a fab holiday but the hills are a killer, very steep and very slippery, not good in hot sticky weather, thought the beach was nice enough to warrant the climb there and back
My husband and I have stayed in Fuengirola several times and have also stayed in a hotel near Torreblanca but it was all inclusive so we didn't leave the hotel in the evenings. Now Fuengirola is a really lively place in the evenings. Just about everyone walks up and down the promenade and the restaurants and bars are usually full. I can't see the point in booking into a hotel where you have to take a taxi or long hike to get to a good selection of bars when you can book a hotel that's near everything, shops, bars and restaurants and all you have to do is step outside the door!
The hotels we have stayed in are the Las Palmeras, right behind the harbour and ideal for everything. The other one was Las Piramdes which was very good but was further away from the centre of Fuengirola but there were still quite a few restaurants, bars and shops. We certainly prefer Fuengirola.
If you choose Benalmadena/Torrequebrada, there is a hotel called Sunset beach club. Verry UK oriented and they have big rooms/appartments. Ideal for families.
I'll let you know where we choose,...In regards to the weather at night in mid sept, is it still fairly warm, or should a jacket be packed just in case ?
Thanks
Danny
Weather is not guaranteed once into October but even then I am sure that coming from the UK you will not feel cold, but it may (with any luck, we are close to severe drought conditions) be raining by then. If it does rain it will be extremely heavy and invariably not last for long, so the best advice woulld be to stay in bed if it rains
Cheers,
John
I'm thinking Torreblanca will be the best choice for us.
One thing of concern however is a lot of the private rental apartments do not seem to have saftey deposit boxes ?, Is this normal practice for the CDS ?,
Would be a ruined holiday if our passprts etc were stolen
Thanks
Danny
looking forward to the CDS and will let everyone know what we though when we get back
Any bar/restraunt recommendations are welcomed
Thanks again
Danny
i beg to differ on the walk from torrrquebrada, most of the building work is done on the pathway to walk,to benelmadena,as i walked with no prob from burger king ,all the way up to flat hotel with a lot of shopping, and it was a lovely walk.that was last week.
I hate to say this but Torreblanca is far hillier than Torrequebrada. If you are at the bottom it is not too bad. Both are as built up as each other, advantage for Torrequebrada is golf complexes near the top have great standards, one just finished there is truly amazing there are still a few available apparently, if I had the cash then I would buy there anyday of the week. If you go far enough up the hill in Torrequebrada, then you come out in Benalmadena Pueblo, if you go up the hill in Torreblanca you meet with the motorway. There are no attractions in Torreblanca and no stores, no bus routes uphill, one positive is train station. There is a fantasic restaurant called La Venta which is well worth a visit. Torrequebrada of course hosts a championship golf course, no train station as yet, although rumour as it that one is in project just now, buses are not available through Torrequebrada, however, it does have a few good amenities, bank, pharmacy, grocery store, newspaper store, the most amazing Asian restaurant. Beaches in Torrequebrada are a lot more private, the chiringuitos are amazing. The casino is the biggest attraction down there with first class caberet, I seen a 2 year old, 3 bed apartment for sale within walking distance of the casino for only 235,000 euros, it had a garage, aircon and was fully furnished. This looked great, you cant get a decent 2 bed in this area for that price never mind a 3 bed, imagine the rental potential on this. I think Torrequebrada might be my favorite because Benalmadena has way more to offer than Fuengirola.
glad i,m not the only one who enjoy,s the beauty of torrequebrada, thats why we bought overlooking 5th tee long par five, brill sight, see enough traffic at home, depends on what you a looking for,235000 euros is an ex price in this area.
You are very lucky, the views up there are great, really peaceful as well. Which complex did you buy on?
Where abouts are you staying in Torreblanca?
Everyone's has their own opinions, I certainly prefer Torreblanca/Fuengirola to the Benalmadena end (with the exception of the Marina in Benal which is lovely).
