Hi. This is my first post on this board after reading loads of really useful information.
I am going to Lindos with my partner on 7 September. We are going with Thomas Cook and staying at the Kyriaki Apartments/Studios. Does anyone have any info on these apartments or has stayed there before? I know that they are near the Italian restaurant at the St Pauls Bay end of the village.
Lindos looks amazing and I'm sure we will love it there. This is our first trip to Greece so any tips would be appreciated.
I have stayed at these studios though a few years back now. You're right they are very close to Il Palazetto (v nice if a bit pricey) restaurant. It's about 5 minutes walk downhill to St Pauls and less than 5 mins (slightly uphill) to the centre. The main beach or Pallas beach are a 10 minute walk and i prefer these to St Pauls Bay as they're less rocky and better for swimming. The road they are on was fairly quiet as it only lead to a car park but they've now built a new amphitheatre over what was the car park so i imagine it's even quieter.
The accommodation is pretty basic (even by greek standards) in Lindos but you soon get over that as the village itself more than makes up for it. The studios are based around a courtyard and are fairly traditional in style (some even have the lindian, platform style beds). S/C facilities in greece are very basic - you just have two electric rings, a fridge and if you're lucky a kettle but with so many great restaurants nearby who wants to cook? I have stayed in better (and far worse!) but would book here again if the price was right.
I'm sure you'll have a great time - Lindos was my first visit to Greece and i'm still a regular visitor 13 years on, there's nowhere else quite like it!!
I'm sure we'll spend most of our time on St Paul's beach as my boyfriend loves snorkelling so he'll be glad of the rocks.
I've heard that as there are no pools in the village, you can use the pools at the Lindos View apartments if you pay for a sunbed. Do you know how close Lindos View is to Kyriaki?? Also, on the photos the beaches seem to be full of sunbeds - are there areas where you can just put a towel down?
I appreciate its a while since you've stayed at the Kyriaki Apts but do you know if they have courtesy/shower rooms for your day of departure? We have to vacate our room at midday but we don't leave for the airport til 2AM!
Lindos View is the nearest pool to you and it is open to the public as long as you pay for your sunbed and use their bar for drinks/snacks. It takes me less than 10 minutes walk but it's uphill all the way and when i went with my ex (a smoker) it took twice as long, so i guess it depends on how fit you are!!
None of the smaller blocks in Lindos have courtesy/shower rooms. As long as it fits in with the next arrival you can normally pay extra to keep your room on til 6pm - just ask your rep or their agent once you're there (i can't remember how much it costs but less than £20). If you can't do that you can pay to use the shower facilities at Lindos Reception (just above the village, where the coaches drop off/pick up).
A website you might want to have a look at is http://www.thelindianway.com
Just back from 2weeks in Pefkos, and think you should know, weather is hot hot hot.I say this because me and partner stopped in same studios as you in 2002 and they are lacking in air con, however, the owner is a real nice chap, and you can rent fans off him.You will find studios very basic, but they are ideal for the job in hand.We had slighly more room in ours,as two of the studios have two floors.Word of warning, the slightly steep hill can be a bit of a problem going up when youve been down and sampled the amazing cuisine from all the fantastic establishments. As far as keeping room on is concerned, three years ago,it was possible through the owner, who lives close by,depending on your flight time/time of next arrivals, anyway, enjoy,im well envious, and its only about two weeks since i was last walking the cobbled streets of lindos
