Hi Julie,

some areas have a lot of dead coral so it can be pretty sharp on the feet getting into the water. the worst areas seem to be where the beach is not protected by the sea wall, so this allows the coral to be washed up on shore. This was where our bungalow was last time so this time (as we want the same bungalow) I have bought myself a pair of water shoes (£5 from ebay) to take with me.

the rest of the island seems not to suffer from this problem (there is a small amount around the turtle enclosure) but nowhere else. I never saw anthting like sea urchins that close to shore but to be honest as the water is crystal clear, it's easy so see what you are stepping on.

Tracy, thanks for that, i am really excited now. Went to our dive place and got our masks on sunday. We did a car boot on sunday and did £80. It has paid for our masks. I had a cress matrix and matching snorkle and paul had a dacor. They r really good. We already have some rubber shoes that we bought in mauritius so we will wear those. Just thought it would be nice to go bare foot.
By the way, somehow all my messages have been deleted. Im really mad because i had kept all yours with your info on Lily Beach. It also means i havnt got your email address anymore. If you could resend it me i would be grateful.
Hope you are ok, when do you go to Lily Beach (was it xmas time?).

Yep Xmas for us - we leave December 19th.
