I want to go away around boxing day/new year with my family, my bro and his partner and me and mine...
I would like to do something not winter sun, more like wintery. Have looked at activity holidays to Lapland which look great but are very expensive..
I know skiing is the obvious choice but me and my brother are the only people going that can ski.
Anyone got any ideas?
We went upto Aviemore for the day, where there was plenty of snow! All the children *(and some adults even) were Sledging or Snowboarding-great wintery atmosphere! We went upto the Cairngorn Mountains........
VERY COLD at the top, i can tell you! There are also Husky Dog Rides, Reindeer Shelter, and plenty more to do and see around Aviemore.
We have actually booked a 4bedroom detatched house for February next year. As there are only 4of us going up, my children can have a bedroom each! We are stopping just outside Aviemore, a place called Granton on Spey. The surrounding countryside/area around this location is suberb, and stunning. We cant wait to return.
That sounds great and would be cheaper I guess being in the UK.
Where would I be able to find details for organising a good trip up there do you know?
caroline, try this site it might contain some useful info if not just google aviemore

The drive upto Glasgow itself is boring, but when you get past Glasgow, you then start passing some wonderful countryside, and Lochs. It will probably take us around 9hours to get up there (we stop a couple of times) but its so scenic on route.

Prague is very wintery - and VERY cheap.
There is a very reasonable priced restaurant there, aswell as a shop.
Dont forget there is also Loch Ness. We went on a boat trip on the Loch-didnt see the monster though! You will really enjoy it if you go .
A lot of the ski-resorts in Austria have plenty of activities for the non skier - walking, sleighrides, indoor pools, skating, sun bathing, apres-ski etc. We went to Kufstein in Austria one Xmas and visited Soll on Christmas Day. Trouble was there was no snow apart from the mountain tops...so up the cable car we went and spent Xmas lunch in the sun and snow...great.
