As far as I am aware you are not supposed to take food into any country, although my friend often takes sausage and bacon with her.

Thanks Sarah, I was planning on taking some bacon and such like. I remember you used to see people with cool boxes going off on holiday but haven't seen that for some time and thought it was due to the outbreak of foot and mouth disease, would hate to be searched at the airport and my sausage & bacon confiscated, lol.

I think its still a possibility that it could be taken. Most airlines will let you through as they understand its for you own consumption but there's always a risk that you may get pulled and have it confiscated.
