I need to know if there is such a thing as 'normal milk' in Ibiza(my daughters words!)as I have a very fussy child(my words!)
She only likes a certain kind of milk.
To save money I prefer the kids to have cereal in the room.
I have packed enough coco pops, weetos etc in the suitcase for the full 2 weeks!
Just need to get fresh milk while there now.
The 'normal milk' I speak of has got to be SEMI SKIMMED (fresh pasteurised homogonised semi skimmed milk) the kind you buy at the supermarket in plastic bottles with green lids and comes in either 1,2,4 or 6 pints! You'll know what i mean if you have this at home as it says all that on the side!
I am staying in San Antonio Bay(Aparthotel Rosamar) so the supermarket/shop i can find it in would be good to know!
Cheers,
Sharon
Cow's milk is available in most supermarkets though (as well as goat milk) although I don't think they have semi-skimmed, I think its a full fat and pressurized milk for a longer life. Incidentally I always found it went off allot faster than in the UK, probably because of the time it takes to import.
Just in case you are thinking about it, I believe it remains illegal (on a personal basis) to import dairy products or meat products into Spain from within the UK.
Let me know how you get on when you get back, I would be intrested.
She said it tasted like the milk we get at home but as her kids are young she tends to buy whole milk and she said it had a blue lid (like whole milk in UK)
Theres a good supermarket on the next road up from the resort of San Antonio Bay (I think it was called SUMA)but may not cater particularly for the tourists but I am thinking the local stores could have some in. I will shop around and see what I can find.
I think your sister is right, you will only get whole fat cow milk.
If you are on a self catering holiday and you have a hire car I would drive out to the larger out of town Consum or Syp supermarkets which are much larger, cheaper and have a greater variety than the in-town alternatives.
you can definately get cravendale milk in es cana, from the spar shops, and in santa eulalia.im not sure about where tour staying, but i would be very surprised if not mo.
I think if I have to get whole milk I will water the stuff down a bit and pass it off as semi-skimmed to keep the moody child quiet !!!
You can buy Semi Skimmed and Whole milk in all the supermarkets and don't bother lugging a suitcase full of cereal over they sell all the same brands in Ibiza. The milk comes in Green or Blue cartons and tastes as it does in England.
could not get any nice milk in ibiza.
1st morning I made cereal and you'd think I was trying to poison them.
I am about to have my 1st nice cup of coffee this morn and cant wait to get the kids up so they can happily chomp on Weetos!!
Brill hol tho!!!
Missing it already
Thanks to all who replied and hopefully I will have better luck in my quest for milk next August!
'Fresh' milk is available in supermarkets but of course unless you have a fridge it won't last long.
'Desnata' is skimmed
'Semi desnata' is semi skimmed
'Entera' is whole milk with all the cream left in.
Wouldn't it be easier to tell your kids that when they pay the grocery bill then they can choose what goes on the dining table and until then they'll have to eat what they're given?
I bow down to your truthful, accurate and sensible comment!
As a single mum of 4 I am already thinking the kids are beginning to rule the roost! There's nobody else to keep them in line! Get sick of hearing my own voice!
Went to the usual hotel we stay in every year and there was no KIDZONE this time! No peace for me then!!
Since flying home yesterday they have seen a different me.
"GET TO BED" has been said often in 24 hours!
New rotas and rules have been set!
They have 49 and a half weeks to be trained till we go back to San Antonio Bay!!
Sharon
P.S.Might just stick to toast next year but they'll have to cook it!!!
