Hello
Please can anyone tell me a little information about this beach, we will be staying next year at a little urbanisation called Torremar, the closest beach is Carjaval i am told, I can't find a map with Torremar on it and i really would like to know just how far it is from Benalmadena.
We stayed in Benalmadena last time we were in the Costa del sol and loved it, so hope were not too far away.
We don't want to hire a car really and i understand that the busses and trains are nearby, which we used last time we were there and i thought they were very good.
Would we be able to walk to Benalmadena and Funguerola, how far away is Mijas, which is the nearest golf course, are there any supermarkets neaarby, how much would a Taxi be likely to cost us from Torremar to say Bonanza square,
Also been told that there is Wynnes bar quite near, anyone been here, if so whats it like
Ive got loads of questions hope you can help, Thankyou in advance,
The centre of Benalmadena is probably about 5 miles away. Taxi fare is likely to be at least 10 Euros, maybe as much as 15. There is a bus (120) that runs every half an hour from Fuengirola to Torremelinos, running along Benalmadena seafront. You will be able to catch the train from Carjaval and get off at Arroyo/Benalmadena if you want the top end of the resort.
You can get a bus to Mijas from Fuengirola bus station (15 minute journey).
The golf course at Torrequebrada is probably the closest to Carjaval. This is roughly half way between Carjaval and Benalamadena marina. Get off the bus at the Flatotel and walk up the hill or of course get at taxi.
There will be several small supermarkets in Carjaval but they won't be cheap. If you can get a bus to the Myramar shopping centre (the other end of Fuengirola) then there is a large Eroski hypermarket there, but there's several in and around the centre, although most are clustered along the N340 by-pass.
If as you say you are near Wynns bar then you need a car. Its up in the mountain part and is urb. Torremar.
Wynn's is quite a place. Used to be Ronnie Knights old place I'm told. Lots of 'geezers' seem to frequent the place but they were friendly enough. Just glad I wasn't the 'old bill'.
The area is nothing like Benal. No bars, no shops and very quiet. We often drove to Benal, Arroyo, Mijas and the Pueblo to eat and returned for much needed alcohol. Stock up at the supermarkets mate.
If you need owt else let me know.
Cheers

is Wynns bar a bar serving food, looks like we will be staying quite near where you were, would you go again.
We really don't want to hire a car, is it possible to get taxis etc from the villas. and have you any idea how much they would cost from Benalmadena. Can you get the train easily, we used the train quite a lot when we were in Benalmadena and the busses, are they quite near.
Im not too worried about being out of the way, but i like to know we can get around easily, and we don't mind walking, if it is safe. we have a couple of children with us so we don't want to be having to risk crossing any bad roads.
We drove on the buisy N340 when we were there once, is this road anywhere near Torremar. i mean would we have to cross it to walk anywhere, cause if i remember rightly, i don't think you would be able to cross it, it was like a motorway. so would that mean we would be stuck up the mountain.
How far away from mijas is calle paris,
Loads of questions, hope you don't mind, any more info you can give me will be very much appreciated.
Thankyou
Wynn's bar does serve food and quite decent, particularly the breakfast.
I would go again but only with a car. The villa was great and the area is very relaxing.
Never tried taxis so can't comment on them. Never got on the train but we did drive to Carvajal Station. This is down at the bottom of the hill near the beach and so requires a good degree of stamina to get back up the hill.
I think the bus is the best bet. It runs in a loop from Benalmadena Marina, along the coast road, turns up into Torremar, then at Wynn's it turns right again towards Benalmadena Pueblo, down through Arroyo and back to the Marina. There are a few bus stops in Torremar. All I would say is the last bus runs from the Marina at about 10pm and they aren't always on time.
The area is residential and is safe but I don't think you can really walk anywhere, it's just too hilly.
The N340 is at the bottom of the hill and you can cross it safely for the beach - there's not much else at the bottom of the hill. You can go under the road for the beach. At the top of the hill is the motorway. This is a proper motorway, not like the N340, and is handy for getting to from the airport.
Mijas pueblo is about 3 or 4 miles away from Calle Paris. Absolutely no chance of walking either.
I really think you need a car mate. This would give you the freedom to get to wherever you want to go. Don't know how old the children are but believe me they ain't going to want to walk very often. Torremar is residential with the exception of Wynn's.
For a map use http://www.multimap.com
change the country to Spain, type the street name e.g. calle paris and put benalmadena as the town.
Keep the questions coming bud. Happy to help.
Cheers

Do you have to travel on the motorway to get into Benalmadena.
I have heard that the bus is one an hour through Torremar to Benalmadena, would you say that is correct.
We would also be interested in playing a couple of rounds of golf whilst we are there, and know there is one in Torrequebrada (excuse the spellings) do you have any idea on the green fees etc, or know a website we can find them on. any information on golf would be appreciated.
I know you said that there is very little at the bottom of the hill, do you mean that there are no bars either on the beach at Carvajal. if not have you any idea how far away the nearest bars would be.
Is Wynns bar spanish, we will be on holiday whilst the football is on, do they show the football, or isn't it that type of bar. would we have to travel right to Fuenguerola or Benalmadena to do this.
Are there any food shops in Torremar, at all is it possible to get an english paper ,milk, etc from anywhere around. or again, would we have to travel far.
Are there any car hire places etc in the area, (in case we do decide to hire) Has anyone any idea how much a taxi will cost from the airport to get to Torremar.
again thanks for all your help.
The bus is indeed on the hour, but as i said before it's not guaranteed.
No idea about golf costs, perhaps a separate post on this board will help. Spoke to a chap last year who enjojed the Mijas course I mentioned above.
There is a bar on the beach and I've always enjoyed the food. Once on the beach it's not far to the outskirts of Fuengirola.
Wynn's bar is very english or it was last time I went. I don't remember them having any footy though so you might need to nip to Fuengirola. They had a shop across the road that sells essentials. Even had the decency to open up when we turned up at teatime gasping for water, bread, etc. That said these were the only 2 non residential places I saw in the entire urbanisation. I'm sure they will also help you out with car hire if you find as we did that it's essential. We booked with carjet before we went but only for the second week. Cost about £90 per week for a 5 door clio.
Cheers
