I'd been to Mexico 5 years ago but to Mexico City and Puerta Vallarta so not too disappointed at not getting to Mexico again, but had been looking forward to staying at the Tucan as it has such excellent reviews. We had booked our holiday to coincide with our 1st wedding anniversary so was initially just really disappointed that having booked it so far in advance (Jan) this year that we suddenly get it cancelled 3 week before we go.

Maldives is somewhere this year I've really wanted to holiday and so decided next year is when we'd go, but the fact it's all changed round and we're going this year, it's great. Have to admit, I'm really really excited about it now and as everyone kept telling me these things happen for a reason!! We are staying at Kuramathi Island in the Village with Kuoni. It looks like paradise, cannot wait, been researching since before and since I booked it and reading all the reviews.

I know what you mean about expensive holidays - once you go on a really good one you just can't stop and if you're anything like me, I've got a holiday on the go and another one nearly booked and something else in the pipeline hee hee my husband despairs sometimes but well, we work to live, not live to work in my book!

Do you have any tips about visiting the Maldives that we might need to know?

Sorry to hear that you've had to cancel. I'm not surprised though. To save you any more upset and stress at going through this cowboy firm, cancelling is the better option. They are not going to help you. I will PM you with some very interesting info I received whilst on holiday about the MyTravel group. It'll make everything much clearer.

And we had a great holiday despite Airtours best efforts to mess it up. :swear

I also spoke to three couples who were all supposed to be staying at the Tucan and had booked with the Mytravel group. Needless to say, they weren't at the Tucan. :roll:

So sorry to read more bad news from Airtours/direct holidays. Although I booked my holiday to the toucan Direct Holidays will not will not guarantee my booking or even tell me if I have a room reserved for the 14 to 28 of feb 2006. Although I booked my wedding with the hotel direct I had in fact booked the wedding through direct holidays only to cancel later because I was sold a wedding package that did not exist.

I feel we should perhaps join forces and write something together and get everyone to sign it- sentd a copy to the Directer and one to the newspapers. Perhaps we may get some satisfaction rather than writing individually. Its just a thought, if we come together we will be stronger. Pm me and let me know your thoughts.

Lets not allow this to consume our lives but support each other and join forces.

So why do they over book their room allocation? Surely if what you say is true cannot be legal?
