Has anyone been to Side in late November, early December?.I was last there in May 1994 and have always wanted to return.
have i made a boo boo by booking to go to side? there dosnt seem to be a lot posted about it , has any one any ideas of the prices there, or suggest any where i should go? im travelling alone, and would like an idea where to go thanks maggieomx
hi maggie om..why do you think you have made a booboo Side is lovely..not far from where i live. What sort of time are you after...quiet lively beach nightlife etc and i will give you more info
Been twice now sept o4, at the Kaya in Side ( spot on hotel everything was great) & sept o5 at the Sunrise Resort in Side ( but I wouldn't recommend this hotel, to far out so it costs you alot and the food and service etc not very good), weather in o4 was fanastic and very hot.... this year sept o5, few storms & a few tornado's out at sea, but after the storms the temperature seemed to get hotter day by day......
Go .. the people are so friendly...... the area is lovely
Here's to you having a great time, enjoy.....

im a female going on my own and people seem to be going evreywhere but side! will i get loads ov mither off the locals being on my own? where shall i go what shall i do? can you recommend? anything? places? any help would be great thanks maggie58omx
As for places to go round Side have a trip up to Aspendos and perge..stunning and about half an hour away from side..Manavgat market on a monday is good..as is manavgat waterfalls. Alanya is a short bus trip away for a really nice day out..and likewise Antalya in the other direction.Local buses run all the time and are cheap. Tours are on offer all over..the same as the reps advertise..but much cheaper. if you want to venture further afield take a 3 day tour to Cappadocia...two nights hotel with meals etc and only about 65 lira Or you can just laze in the hotel and im sure the people will be very friendly to you.
Thanks guys
its a beautiful unique place built within an ancient ruined greek city ,there are parts of old temples actually on the beach. So its very historic. We often go up there for a day out as the centre is easy to get around...unlike Alanya which is very big.
it has a nice shopping centre with the usual shops..ie jewelers, leather, clothes etc and some really good restaurants. Nightlife is also lively as Side attracts a young crowd especially in high season.
Shopping is also good in Manavgat...about 2 miles up the road..theres a market there on mondays. i hope she will bargain for what she wants..but be good humoured about it. is she staying in Side itself or on the outskirts. i hope she will have a nice time
She doesnt know the whereabouts of the apartments, the Irem aparts??don't know if you know them.she is also worried about mossies,as they are taking Jenson, who is one,are there many there?we didnt get bitten once in Icmeler.but I know some places suffer with them more than others.
Thanks for your help,Side sounds lovely, fancy it myself

i think they are a fair way outside Side town centre...but buses are frequent.
there are reviews for this hotel on some other travel forums..dont know if there are any here. its like everywhere else some people love it others hate it.
As for mossies this area has less of a problem than the Marmaris areas...thats not to say they are not there in alanya the town hall sprays regularily and i should imagine its the same in Side.(say it see-day)
going anywhere in Turkey with a baby will guarantee you a nice time. its really lovely here at the moment weather wise..so i hope it stays this way for your daughters holiday
thanks for all the good advice, i.ll be staying at the selge hotel but havent heard anything about it ?!?!!? dont know what its like has anyone heard anything about it? thanks maggie58omx
Thank you very much for that, she will be pleased to have that info, going to send it to her now,
We've met before on the Goa forum you kindly gave me some advice on the Santiago. It's been about 3 years since we last visited Side (been going further afield) but have to say that we loved it there. We always stayed in a small Pension in the old town which was run by a youngish couple who became our friends and we ended up booking direct through them. I found your hotel advertised in the Jewel in the Crown brochure and it looks as though it is where most of the hotels are located and that is just outside the town so you may need to catch the 'tractor' to get into the centre. Lovely beach, very historical, loads of jewellers (not that you'll need them after Dubai - oh yes got the earrings bought the watch!!). Think the weather will be brilliant, our friends always used to love October. As far as money is concerned we took pounds sterling and changed it at the local post office where you seemed to get a better rate but it was 3 years ago so perhaps things are different now. Hope you enjoy yourself I'm sure you'll find someone to talk to.
iv hurt my arm so iv to take time off so i thought id just book a last minit deal, bad mistake as im the worlds worst flier!!(with all the miles i do!!)
so you say to take sterling, thats what i think i will do i dont suppose i,ll spend that much on my own?! so it wont make much difference ?i suppose, got the hotel up on jewel site it looks ok, just hope theres no thunder storms whilst im flying!! thanks again linda :-)) maggieomx
we are off to side on Tuesday and i was just wondering if anyone was just back and had an idea of the weather?
I just had a look on underground weather and it is not looking that good for the coming week.
Also we are staying at the cennet complex and i was wondering if anyone knows it or has been there?
We cant wait to go roll on tuesday
Thanks in advance
Alison

It gives you a 10 day forecast too, I was always checking this site out before we left for Side back in Sept..
Hope you have a lovely holiday

We are a group of friends (female) thinking of going to turkey next year. We've been to Olu Denize and Alanya and loved them both but do not wish to return to same resorts, we like to go somewhere different hence thinking of Side. We will be going in October so thought the med coast would be the best bet for weather. Good move or bad all comments welcome and advice on nightlife and shopping. Plus any recommendations for hotels/apartments would only consider being in resort centre not on outskirts.
Have been to Olu Deniz and Side. I much preferred the scenery at Olu. Side was very flat. Side's heaving with ruins and antiquities so if you're into that sort of thing its a brilliant place. Dont miss Aspendos, a fab amphitheatre.
Dont think anywhere will beat Olu for scenery. I thought it absolutely stunning where we stayed in Montana Pine. Thanks anyway.
