We've stayed in the Qawra Palace a few times and love it. Been in many different rooms on different levels and my fave is on the 7th floor, sea view. Fabulous view, great rooms. The lifts are a pain but we usually take the stairs.
The inner rooms facing the courtyard are fine if you aren't too bothered about views.
The entertainment is ok but aimed at the older generation really. The food is always good, with plenty of choice. The drinks don't appear to have been watered down as in some all inclusive hotels. And the staff are lovely.
Getting a sunbed around the pool can sometimes be difficult but that isn't really the fault of the hotel but the many guests who believe their towels deserve a few hours baking in the sun before they bother to turn up to do the same.
We've booked to go here again in November for a week. Would be longer but I can't get the time off work.
Hope you have a great time here too.
SL65 you say you have just come back from this hotel and recommend a tour company yet you are posting from Malta ?

Myself and my better half, are due to fly out to Malta in about 4 weeks ( can't wait to be honest ! ) staying once more at the above hotel. We were there a couple of years ago and enjoyed it then ! Two years ago we stayed in the Jerma Palace in Marsacala, but with it being off the beaten track so to speak, but she who must be obeyed wants to return to Qwara !
This time we are going half board, is it an expensive option to upgrade to all inclusive once we arrive ?
Many thanks
Steve
ps I would just like to say, what an excellent forum this is, i often read all postings, albeit don't reply, well done to you all !!!

Just back from Qawra Palace, stayed on a HB Basis. Didnt feel the need to upgrade to All Inclusive, there are plenty of places to get dinner and also we ate out a couple of nights. It is not that expensive.
You will have a great time, the Qawra Palace is excellent, contrary to some reviews I have read.
Many thanks for your replys, much appreciated !
With me being a " thicko " it never crossed my mind to contact the hotel direct ( memo to self, order some more brain cells from ebay !! Haha ).
I must admit i did enjoy the hotel the last time we were there, although i was a little nervous from some of the reports i had read, but found no problems whatsoever. I believe a couple did complain about a squeky wardrobe door whilst i was there, but each to there own !!!!!!
I know it's only 4 weeks away, but it still seems time has stood still and it's still as far away as when we booked it back in Feb.
Many thanks again
Rgds

no problem - somethings only obvious once you see the solution !
We always do the All Inclusive option when staying at Qawra Palace. We just love the food so much and we like a drink too!! I think it just depends on how much time you may spend in the hotel. I hope you have a lovely time.
I'd really appreciate it, thanks
Stayed there in October 2005, we had a sea view and could watch the evening entertainment from our room which was rather basic, but I am glad we did not have a room facing the inner courtyard. Tv was crap, set was partly bust, dodgy lifts, dingy corridors poorly lit, foyer belied the interior, not impressed with the restaurant, or waiting service, cafe was nice on the front, so front office was good but not so behind.
I went here 4 years ago and it was truly the Holiday from Hell and from what I have read since it is no better.
I would need weeks to post all that was bad about this hotel but the basics are that when we arrived (myself, hubby and 2 sons) we were given a large room on the ground floor looking into the courtyard that in itself was terrible it smells is dingy hardly any natural light I know you dont go on hol to spend all day in your room but it has to be at least half habitable and believe me this wasnt there were two beds actually they were two mattresses on concrete blocks both doubles and made up with single sheets!!!!! the wardrobe doors were handing off there were dirty towels on the floor and when we opened the patio doors there was a pile of not sure if human or animal poo on the balcony the room was near the laundrey so steam was belching out of a nearby window. I just stood and cried we went to find the airtours rep and he was the worst holiday rep I hae ever come across . He actually turned round and said he didnt know what my problem was so I asked if I could see what sort of room he stayed in as I was sure it was not like this one of course he declined. He told us to go to reception and see about a room change this took 2 days to put into action the reception staff were the rudest . I was told to come back the next day and dead on twelve and there would be a room for me to look at this went on like I said for 2 days. At one point I insisted they find us another hotel or fly me home as I couldnt stand it any longer. My travel wouldnt do either I know I should have kicked up more of a fuss but I am a very easy going person and find it hard to stand my case.
Anyway a better room was found on the 7th floor and it was much much better than the other one so we decided to stay. What a mistake there were cockroaches all over the dining room the food was inedible some kind of stew every day there was steak and kidney pie one night in all my life I have never and dont want to taste a pie like that one again. My husband was in bed for 4 days with D & V. My sons slipped on the patio round the pool and cut the back of his head open when I went to find the rep to ask about the nearest clinic or hospital as it was obvious it needed attention he told me he was in the middle of his time off and couldnt help me. In the end the Hotel Manager (a fantastic bloke) took charge and stayed with us all the time called a Doctor out to see Scott and even paid the bill.
Entertainment was dire it consisted of "audience participation" which is not our kind of thing and at weekend they let all the locals in to use the facilities which mens they take over the outside bar area on a night and set up there own picnics. To make the holiday bearable we hired a car and spend most of the time touring. We met a fantastic couple from Canvey Island Roger and Lyn and if it wasnt for them, meeting up with them at night I would have gone mad.
Malta is lovely and the people great I just wouldnt recommend this Hotel it was so bad when everyone was sat on the Coach to go to the Airport to go home everyone cheered as they pulled away from the hotel so it wasnt just us that felt this way. And as I have said things do not seem to have improved.
Sounds grim, won't be going there then.
