Bulgaira is no good, not in May anyway. thay have a late start to thier season and it is only a short season (compared to other places) in which the weather is guarenteed. It is cheap though and an excellent holiday destination !

The weather in May is normally very good.

I would suggest if you can get cheap flights, look for a reasonable private apartment near to the beach. You can stock up at the local supermarkets for the basics (water, coffee, tea, bread etc.) This way you can have breakfast at 'home', nip back to the apartment for lunch, or bring a chill bag and take sarnies to the beach and still enjoy an evening meal out without having to spend too much.

It's normally the little things like drinks, ice creams etc that really add to the cost of the hols. Having your own fridge/kitchen will save you a lot of money.

Not Skiathos, that's the most expensive Greek Island we've been to. In fact just got back and have'nt yet recovered from the shock. Lesbos is the Island for you, 50-60% cheaper than Skaithos, quieter than Skiathos, more to see there than in Skaithos, locals just as friendly as Skaithos and nice and traditional. Stay in Anaxos or Petra. Visit Molyvos by night, a 4-5 Euro trip by Taxi..... extreme beauty. Can't wait to return

Thanks for your reply & I hear what you are saying about Skiathos, infact I have heard exactly that before.

But as I said, my niece wants Skiathos for her wedding, so we have NO CHOICE.

I would vote Turkey for a cheap holiday anytime.

And I would vote OLU DENIZ TOO!!!!!, might not be the cheapest but when you take into account the location, the cleanness of the resort, it does have an "upmarket" feel. It wins everytime.

I love swimming in that lagoon, & the markets are so cheap too. That "white dolphin" restaurant is susposed to be one of the best outside of Istanbul, (I think Bill Clinton ate there) & a steak or main course is £12-£15!!!!.

Looks like the wedding will probably be in 07.

SO HAVE BOOKED FOR OLU DENIZ RESORT HOTEL, £1,100 in May 06, not really cheap, but was there in June this year & love it. Went all out & paid extra for the sea-view rooms with mini-bar and matching his'n'hers barhrobes & slippers!!!
