Ive seen this site but I was hoping for some ht members personal recommendations as this site is like a travel brochure very vague and really you need the report of someone who has actually been to a place to be able to decide whether its for you or not the brochures only show us the best parts

Hi, well i went to kavos in the summer, loved it. very lively, had lovely restaurants. not really 5* hotels though!!!

In october I have been to Hotel Louis Corcyra Beach in Gouvia. A very clean and nice resort, with two pools (one, the lagoon, is very nice) and a private beach. This resort has the normal rooms and bungalows in the garden. I stayed in a bungalow with view on the beach and sea, really fantastic. I was at the end of the season, but normal the place Gouvia has a good nightlife.

It really depends what you want from a holiday. I went to Kavos 21 years ago on my honeymoon and is was very quiet - nowadays though it is very, very lively and more for the 18/30 age group. Personally, I prefer the Sidari area, or Paleokastritsa ( probably not spelt right!!)areas. These are also lively but more geared for families.

My parents really rate Sidari (although they said some of the beach smelt iffy) They only do S/C so cant comment on 5* properties yet they have always raved about the accommdation being clean and spacious and how friendly and well laid out the resort is.

Thomson have a 4* gold property in Aghios Gordios (no under 16s) and a 5* property in Corfu Town

The 5* hotel in Corfu town is the Hotel Corfu Palace. I went there about 5 years ago. It was very nice but we didn't particularly like Corfu town itself. There is a much nicer 5* hotel called the Kontokali Beach at Nissi beach
