Hi Shirley
We only have 4 nights in Saigon. Apart from the two trip you mentioned I have been advised to combine the tunnels with a visit to Cao Dai temple, towards the Cambodian border. Also there is the Reunification Palace and the War Museum to see. A visit to the Chinatown market is also recommended( and I love that sort of thing!) For restaurants and food info try noodlepie.com
To be honest I have not researched beyond that. Will start the more detailed finding out after my next holiday( Rio a week on Friday!)
I would have loved to have had time to go to Hanoi as well but we decided to do one of them well rather than two at a rush. by the way what is the weather like in the summer?

weather in Saigon in july/august hot and rainy - not ideal but because I love asia so much I would rather go there in rainy season than go somewhere like the med - I know that hot dry weather is almost guaranteed in high summer but I'm afraid that the med does not 'feed my soul' like asia does.
We went to Parga this year and although it is absolutely beautiful it cannot come anywhere near asia.
We are going to Goa at Xmas and I am really looking forward to it - but at the moment I am trying to tailor made a Cambodia/Vietnam itinerary for next summer.
I think like yourself I will book 4 nights as Saigon looks like a v.interesting city , thanks for the info I am now going to look at noodlepie, shirleyV
