hi there

was in Salou for the first couple of weeks of October - and the most important thing I would say - is dont expect sunshine (or indeed dry!) weather all the time. It rained incessantly for four days whilst I was there which made things to do quite limited - though Port Aventura is one of things that you can do. We bought a fortnight pass when we went so we could always go there when the weather wasn't so fab.

Some of the pavements around Salou didnt look so great for people with mobility problems, though this was more around the backstreet. The promenade and main tourist areas were fine - though can get a little hilly in places - especially if you head off down towards Cap Salou - which if you have walking difficulties would be tough - in a wheelchair would be nigh on impossible.

The taxis all claimed to be able to transport a wheelchair - but looking at some of them I wouldnt be so sure - but there were definitely a few that were accessible.

Hope this is useful

Thanks.

Wheelchair is not an issue so taxis won't be a problem.

I have read that the weather isn't always sunny so we will be prepared.

Where did you stay?

Are there buses to take you to other areas? Where is worth visting?

we stayed at the Dorada Palace - which is really nice. Five minute or so walk from the seafront/shops but just up a small incline. Handy for Port Aventura - a 10 minute (uphill) walk.

Buses were great - they run 24 hours and it took about 10 minutes or so to reach Cambrils. Easy to get to La Pineda, Tarragona too, though we didnt go. You can either buy tickets on the bus, or from the booths that are dotted around town. It was 1 euro 40 centre to get to Cambrils from Salou - very inexpensive. Can get crowded though - but frequent enough to hang on for the next one if it looks too crowded.

The weather was 50% good, 50% awful. When the sun was out it was hot - hot enough to swim in the sea (like a hot July day here) - when it rained, it rained!

Am sure you would have a great time and best of luck with the weather!
