I know it's each to their own, but wonder why you want to go all-inclusive in Greece? There are so many good places to eat, it's generally resonably priced and child friendly that I realy feel people miss out an awful lot when they are tied to one place. Just my opinion, I know :D

Hi, To be honest, I totally agree with you! My partner preferes the all inclusives with us having a young daughter, I think its because we went all inc. this year and it worked out really well having everything there to hand. We agreed to go all inc. if we found a nice 4 or 5 star with good reviews, if not we'd look at other options - any recommendations for hotels there???

Thanks V much

Have you decided on an island or roughly where you want to go or is the hotel more important?

What other activities do you like to do?
Will you be hiring a car or mainly staying around the pool?
How important is being near a beach or the resort centre?

Just trying to get an idea of the type of holiday you are looking for.

Hi Noushkey

Being right near a resort isnt too important as we won't be 'clubbing' or anything ideally we'd like to be a 20ish minute walk away as we do like going for a look around. To be on a beach would be lovely but not too important if the hotel itself is good - the hotel is a main priority as with a young child we wouldnt be venturing too far so is good to have everything you need right there. I have seen a couple of hotels which look great, 4 star+ all inc in crete right on a beach but I'm thinking its maybe a bit too isolated.

We've not settled on an island, I've never been to Greece or any of the islands so am really open minded. The holiday is mainly centered around our daughter to be honest (until she's older anyway!!) she will be 2 and half ish when we go so needs to be occupied.

thanks a lot for your help

In the summer we stayed in a 4* AI in Crete called Louis Creta Princess, in Maleme. There is a report in the Hotel Review part of HT. My kids are older than your daughter but this hotel might be OK for you. Like alot of AI's its a bit isolated and the beach isn't great, but the pools were brill including quite a large kids pool that might be good for your little one. The food seemed good to us. Its a short transfer from Chania airport. Chania town is nice to visit, The nearest "village" is called Planetaes (its bigger than a village and I probably haven't spelt it right) and there is a sort of mini- train that goes there, although we didn't us it cos we had a car. Also I think the Louis hotels have a good reputation in Greece. They have been around for years and I think are owned by a greek family. It's in lots of brochures. :)

Your welcome shell. I didn't know if to post or not as you said you didn't want somewhere too isloated, and this one is a bit i.e.you can't really walk to anywhere interesting apart from the shop accross the road (which is needless to say cheaper than the hotel shop). But I remember going on holiday with a 2 year old and we didn't really leave the hotel much at all.

We were there in the school summer holidays and there were lots of kids about, but presumably you won't be in main summer hols, perhaps there would be others with pre-school age children. It was quite cosmopolitan, with greeks, english, french, germans etc. Its wasn't a "brits abroad" type place (not when we were there anyway), thought I would mention it as not sure what type of atmosphere you are after. :wave

Sounds even better now! We want to go middle to late september when all the kids are back and it wont be too hot. I appreciate the brits abroad info!! We went to the pegasos palace in turkey this year and that was totally a brits abroad holiday no other nationalities there at all, staying there sometimes made you ashamed to be british! It was a bit butlins in the sun.

We wont be leaving the hotel at night - bedtime after the kids disco! Am not into making my daughter sleep in a pram while we get drunk in a bar. So a nice family atmosphere, somewhere relaxed with a lot to amuse the little one.

Hi Shell

As a Louis hotel has just been mentioned I thought I would just say that we have stayed in a couple of them and found the facilities, food etc to be excellent.
They have several hotels throughout Greece, so you have a choice of various destinations.

There are several reviews for the hotels on this site that may also help you choose.

Here is their website, this may help you find one that suites you.

Might be worth trying http://www.eclipsedirect.co.uk they do this hotel and a few other Louis hotels as well. Rooms weren't huge but would be fine for 2 adults and a little one, probably not as posh as a room in a new build though.:D

Hi Shell05

We have just come back from Crete, staying at the Iberostar Creta Panorama & Creta Mare - thoroughly excellent AI hotel in every respect.

We also stayed at the Iberostar Kipriotis Panorama, on Kos last year which, although it was only a HB hotel, was just great for our little ones as it had a massive (beautifully clean) playbarn on site. Also excellent as hotels go.

I have done reviews on both of these on this site.

Personally I don't think you can go too far wrong with any Iberostar hotel, anywhere, as long as it is 4* or above.

Hope this is of some help too in your decision. :D
