I am going to Rhodes in July and am thinking of renting a car. Is it cheaper to do it in the UK or when I get there? Am thinking of renting it for about 3 days.

It seems a good idea to hire a car when visiting Rhodes. I can book one from the airport on our arrival and return it there for in the region of £140....not sure if that is good value or not as I haven't done this before.
Alternatively, I could hire one in the resort itself for a few days.
Just one question......probably a silly one, but what happens if the car breaks down in the wilds of wannee?
Any thoughts? (apart from ..."stupid woman")

At the moment you can hire a car for 50 Euros for three days in the resort.
I've never heard of a car breaking down and the driver being stranded but I suppose there is always a first time. the hore company should give you a phone number to call in the event of an emergency - so make you you take a phone card with you or a mobile!

We've always used Independant car hire from Koskinou, near to Kalithea.I can't put my hand on his number at the moment but should be able to post it here for you tomorrow. He will bring the vehicle to your hotel/appartment and collect it. All reliable vehicles.HTH Anne

I've just returned from Rhodes, I used a company called J&D car hire based in Kalithea.
Very good price (though was end of season) on a Peugeot 206.
Good service delivered car to hotel.

Posted a reply but my server is playing up. Not Lindos, but I always use Independent in Kalithea. He will bring/collect a car for you and has quite new, safe vehicles. He speaks excellent English-----with an Australian accent! His tel. no. is 00 30 22410 68120
Lindos Suntours have a good reputation. If you walk into the village from the donkey station you'll find the office on your right.

It varies as there are a lot of car hire places so competition is keen and there are good deals to be had if you shop around. We were there earlier this month and we hired a Corsa for 140 euros for 5 days. This included everything except fuel which anyway is a lot cheaper than here. We hired it from Indepedent Car Hire in Kalithea who provided a very good service. I have his email address if you are interested.
