Just got back from an allocation on arrival deal. We knew it was 3* but not the area or the hotel just that it was half board. We ended up in Roquetas De Mar and we were upgraded to a 5* hotel called Hotel Portobello boy did we drop on it cost 160-285 Euros per night and we only paid £150 each for the week so we were dead pleased. So were the other people on the coach. The place Roquetas De Mar is ok for a week but it is quiet at that time of year the best place in fact the only place with some action is a bar called Y D Wakes across the road from the hotel Karaoke with a chap named Phillip if that bar had not been open we would have been staring at one another for a week. The area is plagued with flies and in the summer it gets really bad according to people who live there. It is a place to unwind or to recover after an operation, which is why I went so in that respect it was fine, but to slow for my liking. Benidorm has no flies and something for everyone to do. Children would find it boring at Roquetas and a lot of people said that not just me. I would recommend the hotel to anybody but the area was to slow for me. Would recommend Y D Wakes food and friendliness a very good English bar.
