Marti is a nice hotel but there is no need to spend a lot of monay to stay there when there are lots of nice places to choose from in Icmeler which will save you a lot of money compared to the Marti.

WestSussex,

Firstly let me congratulate you on your choice of country for next year. On reading this forum you will see just how many of us can't see past Turkey with it's differing resorts to suit everyone's tastes. You have obviously done some research already which is good. While I'm a Marmaris fan I do visit Icmeler every year (it's just down the road) and it's a fabulous place for a holiday. You will see that a certain Mr Toohey has given you some advice. You will do no wrong to have a look at what's on offer on the site below his name. The feedback from those who used this company this summer has been excellent, they know their stuff !. No matter who you book with though, just get to Turkey.

We went through the complex on our way home last July, and although it looked lovely I remembered reading here on this site from holiday truth travellers complaining about the food being 'samish' etc., and about having to eat elsewhere due to poor food while there, I'm sure they'll bombard you with like revelations soon best wishes Claire.

Stayed there for a fortnight in July this year (2nd visit). The hotel, grounds and location are fabulous. I can only speak about the room that we had (2 adults and a 13 year old) and it was lovely - air con, easily large enough for the 3 of us and nicely furnished and decorated.
The Marti is quite expensive compared with some other places but it is the little extra things which set it aside (e.g harp being played at breakfast, the quality of the day and evening entertainment etc).
As for the food, it was great - always a variety of different meats, fish dishes etc cooked in lots of different ways. Lots and lots of choice of everything, starters, main courses and desserts too many to mention.

We also stayed at the Marti comlex in July, we were a family of two adults and two children, we stayed on a corner of a row and thus we had two balconies, great one in the sun and one in the shade for those hot afternoons.

The pools were brilliant, the best as far as I am concerned, the wife had one to her self one morning, just lazed out on a lilo, whilst the children entertained me by throwing themselves off the side and splasing me or having to play water-polo, darts, shuffleboard, (it was great really!!)

The food was really good with lots of choice and it was different having special cooked especially for you whilst you waited, steaks, omlettes, crepes you name it.

We would go again, but with my daughter being 13 this year, we cannot afford 3 adult prices, so for the first time we are going self-catering to the Babadan Apts.

INYOUPOP,

Thanks for the detailed info sounds great. What did you make of the rooms, I have read many reviews saying great hotel and great food but rooms are looking dated and in a poor state which has put me off a touch

Hi

We stayed at the Marti a few years ago now. I was a lovely hotel but I really dont think you need to spend all that money to stay there. There are lots of nice places to stay and you can eat out at all the restaurants which are really good in Icmeler. When we stayed at the Marti I was ill I must admit (food related) and lots of other people were too. I still think its much better going self catering. You have choice of what to eat and when you want to eat it. As for the rooms, I must admit I cant complain about the one we had.

We have booked in at the Hotel Marti La Perla, which is at the side of the Marti resort hotel, we have gone self catering for the last three years in Icmeler, and totally enjoyed it too but last year was quite expensive, we spent £1100 between two of us! so this year we are going all-inc. if we don't like then we'll go back to s/c. We did just for the cost, we got 2 weeks all inc. in early Sept for £1459 for two of us anyhow we'll see what happens  I'll just take plenty of Imodium

Hi was thinking of booking the marti for next year as heard great reports about the resort and although wanted b& B it seems we are struggling to find a nice hotel in the area that is not all inc or half board,so we have more or less decided to pay half board but if the food is rubbish we will eat out anyway,If any one has stayed here this year please let me know your thoughts,it would be our first time in turkey

Stayed in the Marti twice, most recently last year (2005). This is a fantastic hotel, the grounds & pools are the best in Icmeler (and much furter I fancy). The food is great, plenty of choice and variety. The location is second to none with its own private beach.
If you do go here I don't think you will be disappointed.

Hi!

Never stayed in the Marti but did have a tour of the hotel a couple of years ago and I must admit that both the rooms and quality of service were superb. It's also probably the best section of the beach in Icmeler, altogether a nice place but from our point of view very very expensive to book. The Efes Inn hotel at the other end of the resort does B/B and although a wee bit tired on the decor front the rooms are great and the service fantastic, certainly worth a look. Other comments and reviews on this hotel on the reviews section of this site.

stayed there last year, (it was our first time in turkey)
had a fantastic time. the rooms could do with some updating ie a lick of paint etc. i would have rated it a 3 star , but never the less will definately go back again. fantastic pools, good choice of food, and the beach on your doorstep! entertainment mainly geared for very young children on an evening, but they have live music in the beach bar, and its only a few mins walk to a host of other bars along the canal side. enjoy :)
