Hello there

Everyone has their favourites!! Truely a beautiful country.

Have stayed lots of different places over the island - spent several years in Cala n Bosch, really great, but the beach seems to have gone smaller over the years!! Gets very over crowded but lovely if you dont mind. In the evening the marina is the place to be - even with children. Lots of lovely restaurants and only one Brit bar tucked in the corner!! The Avanti is by far the best in my opinion. Even though we no longer stay in Cala n Bosch we still visit each year to see our friends we have made in Avanti and the Corner Bar. Its unfortunate but more apartments and hotels have been built each year, which I think is a shame.

Been staying at Cala Galdana for the past three years and its stunning. We stay in a private apartment called Cala Galdana Apartments (!!) which are 2 mins from beach. The whole resort is very child friendly and there is a lovely square next to the Hotel Cala Galdan - have been known to crash there on many a day - fab sun loungers, dreamy music and beautiful pool!! The beach is incredible though, very safe for little ones (little girl of 8yrs) and is quite shallow if the tinies dont swim.

Driving is very easy - one road right through so even I can't get lost for long!! Amigos Autos is a cheap car hire where you can collect from the airport. Everywhere is clearly signposted so its very easy!! honest!!

If you are interested, the website for Tony's apartments is http://www.apartamentoscalagaldana.com. He and his brother Fede run them - they have from one bed to three bedrooms and are fantastic and very reasonably priced. If you are looking for a cheap flight, we go with Excel Airways and have just paid £130 each adult and £110 for children for two weeks in July 2006 from Manchester to Mahon.

Hope this helps!!

I'd recommend Cala Galana or Son Bou. Son Bou has a larger beach and is closer to Mahon. Both resorts are child friendly & we've had no issues taking our children (age range 1 to 5)

I would say Arenal d'en Castell. Is is a very nice resort around a horseshoe bay. You can walk end to end in 15 mins!!!

It is totally geared up for younger families, lots of restaurants all child friendly, and few supermarkets.

Have a look at the Club Hotel Aguamarina if you want to be catered for. If you are looking for self catering have a look at Isla Paraiso apartments.

I'd recommend Cala Galana or Son Bou

Son Bou has the biggest / longest beach on the island, one end (furthest from the resort) is popular with nudists so be warned. Santo Tomas has a great beach too but few non hotel restaurants. Cala Galdana is a nice combination of both IMO.
