I priced a holiday on the Direct website, to Benidorm, for summer 2006. The price has risen by 25 pounds per person inside a week and although I am aware that prices can fluctuate, I was curious as they claim to be giving a guaranteed 100pounds off every holiday booked until 31st January. Bearing in mind that I had priced the holiday originally during the sale period I had a look at the price breakdown and discovered that they have increased the flight supplements to 45pounds per person. The brochure shows flight supplements of 20 pounds per person. Of course you also have a fuel supplement of 25pounds per person on top of that.
An e-mail to direct produced the expected reply that prices may vary from hour to hour etc. but I think that increasing the flight supplement is an underhand method of cutting the price saving which they guarantee.
I have just checked the same holiday from another airport with Direct and its the same story a 25pounds per person increase in flight supplements.
If you read the brochure, at the back where its give you the suppliments it does say that they can change by up to £50.
I have said on here many times that the so called sales that all travel agents/ companies have in January are not the bargins they first appear.
