HI

I'd recommend Prague. I went twice last year and it sounds ideal for what you're looking for. There's a multitude of pubs, bars, restaurants nightclubs etc. The food and drink are excellent value with meals costing about half the UK cost and czech beer at about 50p - 1.20 per pint.

The architechture is wonderful and can easily be enjoyed as you weave your way around the City on a pub crawl  The Christmas Markets will be there and the City decorated beautifully (we went the end of November).

3 nights would be a good stay, stay pretty central and then you won't need public transport, but even so, they do run till late.

For Glasgow departures I'd recommend http://www.flyglobespan.com/index.asp who have the direct flights. Their winter 06 schedule isn't out yet. I'd get on their emailing list so you'll know as soon as their schedule is out and flights will be cheapest. Unfortunately that may be as late May/June or even July time.

Let me know if you need any other info. Good luck, he'll love it!

Have you considered staying in an apartment instead? You get bags more room and if you want to fix yourself a drink, snack or meal you have all the facilities at hand. We are going to Prague for three nights at the end of this month and are stopping in the old town using this company http://www.prague-vacation.com/prague-apartments/. The total cost is about £180 for a two bedroomed apartment. So , for three of us, it works out at £20 per person per night.

I agree with Top, if you're not into sightseeing and all you're after is food and drink then Prague is the best bet.

Tip - if you eat and drink away from the main tourist places your bill will be even cheaper as some in cafes etc. the main squares charge more to eat outside!

We stayed in Pension U Suteru in one of their deluxe rooms and thought it was good value for money. It's up one the quiet side streets approx 200 mtrs from Wencelas Sq so that it was quiet on a night but close to all the main areas. They even booked us am airport transfer.

Id suggest that Prague isnt the place for you if you want a weekend on the piss on the cheap! Prague has so much more to offer than that!

Not sure where you can fly to from Glasgow, but Amsterdam maybe more suited for a group of couples on the lash!! :D
Youd probably get flights a little cheaper as well.

Hi Myvot

I've had a look at flyglobespan's choice of hotels, can't say I'm familiar with them. You can have a look at reviews for them on tripadvisor.com

Also, you don't have to stick to their 'City Breaks', you can always just book a flight with them and then shop around for your hotel.

Sites to search for hotels are http://www.kelkoo.co.uk look for 'travel' then 'hotels'. It searches quite a lot of websites in one go.

Other good ones are http://www.octopustravel.com http://www.gtahotels.com http://www.easyjet.com to name but a few.

We stayed at the Express by Holiday Inn Prague Centre which I could recommend. Newly converted 19th Century building, very smart inside. I got it cheaper due to travel industry rates but I think the general rates are about 70-100 euros per room per night including breakfast. I booked that on their own website ichotelsgroup.com

Have fun with your planning :D

So glad you enjoyed Krakow, and going back there in March, it definitely looks like worth a visit.

Orlando in July - have you been before? We were there last August, I'm sure you'll have a great time.

I'm looking forward to Oslo, we plan to to do a City break and do some winter sports too, as the Tryvann Winter Sports region is only 20 minutes away by train and we can have a go a tobogoning etc. Lord only knows what we'll come back looking like after rolling down the hills, as the tobogon run is 2km long

Enjoy your upcoming trips. :D
