Hi !
Were off to go for easter and are staying in Candolim but fancy spending a couple of days in the south just to have a look and see whats its like. Can anyone recommend any place to stay or not to stay or which is the best town.
Thanks
Annastasia
PS thanks for everyones help with finding accomodation in candolim, i think we have chosen the lucia .... and I managed to find a flight from birmingham for £470 each. which i know isnt a great price but as it is easter and its only 20 min from my house its a load easier than treking down to london.
please anyone ... any ideas ??
But... we have been down to Palolem for a night when we were last staying in Calungute. Recommended for a taste of somewhere with no big hotels and a lovely feel about the beach. Plenty of shacks and restaurants etc. Just get a taxi ride down there and sort out your accommodation when you arrive (basic type bamboo huts). I think you will like it.
I quite like Cavelossim in the south, it's very quiet but still has a nice selection of bars and restaurants. I stay at Gaffinos but have read on HT that it's possibly closed down???
Palolem is fabulous and despite getting busier over the past few years still retains it's charm. Try any of the numerous beach huts for a couple of nights, I guarantee you'll love it!!!
I've also stayed over in Colva a couple of times, stayed at a place called Amigos Plaza, very nice hotel close to the beach which I have to say is lovely, however Colva just doesn't do it for me.
Hope this is helpful, Goldenflipflop
If you are wanting guest house style accom, I would recommend Mikes Place, or GoadnDelight. They are restaurants in cavelossim, but both have nice accomodation.
Or try the tents at Palolem which is also known as Paradise Beach. I think they cost about a fiver per night.
Hope this helps
We are going to Colva Beach Feb 2006 staying at the Oceanique. Can anyone recommend good restaurants in the area.
get tere about 4.30pm when they put tables and chairs out close to the sea to watch the sun sets. Take a pot of masala tean then a little later on a 'sundowner'.
Recommend their tandoori chicken and chicken tikka masala.
Don't forget to get on the beach nearby about 7am-ish to enjoy all the activity of the fishermen bringing in ther catch.
Take a torch fopr getting back at night just to be on the safe side.
thanks we are really looking forward to going charging up the cam corder as I write.
