My missus will go mad,she spent more time in the Gima buying cakes and pizza's than I did drinking in the Captains Bar just down the road.It was the only thing that kept her happy.

its a bummer about the gima - right over the road from where we are staying

From what I have been told of the rumour circulating Marmaris it had something to do with the ex mayor of Marmaris.

The point centre has been closed because it did not have permison to build the roof floor. it is not scheduled to be knocked down for a while yet and protests are happening outside point centre. for us locals its a huge blow, but there is still hope it can be saved yet. only time will tell.

Sorry to sound really thick but is the Gima in Marmaris?
Reply
Collette,

Yes it is in Marmaris. A splendid new building built more or less at a cross roads where the main road runs through Marmaris. If you knew where the Bungee used to be a couple of years ago, it was on that side street but at the main road.

There was a meeting between Point Centre and Municipality. we are waiting news now. time will show what gonna happen.

lets keep our fingers crossed for it to stay - it would such a wrench for the whole community there if they did pull it down

I wasn't doubting what John and Sarah were saying. I also have close connections with Marmaris, but had not heard anything about it and was interested in where they heard about it.
Seems a shame, but like you said - it is Turkey!!! you never know whats going to happen!!!!!!!
